Bellevue commuters spot small boy in PJs running down street

BELLEVUE, Wash. - Police say three officers were dispatched Thursday morning when several surprised motorists called 911 to report a small boy in blue pajamas running in the roadway on NE 8th Street.

The officers soon found the child in the 1100 block of 140th Ave NE with a driver who had pulled over and stayed with him, said Bellevue police spokesperson Seth Tyler.

The 911 callers had estimated the boy to be about 3 years old, but officers determined he is a 7-year-old who is very small for his age.

Tyler said the boy apparently had done this before and one of the officers knew how to contact his parents. The boy was returned home unharmed.

Police said the boy had slipped out of the house while his father was in the shower, even though the door was locked.
