To all . I along with my family was there when the man passed. We live on the corner and heard the screeching tires and the crash, we rushed out to screaming and the man laying on the ground.  The man was struck, dragged and run over , a local neighbor saw the sparks behind the car as he was drug and hit A group of people tried to help, directing traffic and checking on him when we was laying on the ground myself and parents included.. He had a light heart beat when a young woman check his pulse but as we waited for the ambulance we think thats when he passed away. Alot of us had heavy hearts that night. We hope he is in a better place.Â
This is the same incomplete AP news coverage - each has the exact same words & sentences - published in a number of Wash. state newspaper and tv station websites.  In one of the sites (Seattle Times) the news report is currently listed (10:30 a.m. Wednesday) as having been posted at least 11 + hours ago. Where is the AP correspondent or dispatcher now? The dispatch contains nothing as to the circumstances of the accident; nor if the bicyclist was wearing a helmet, a reflective safety vest or jacket, and whether he had any lights on his bike. The Marysville collision responder team has surely completed their report by now. Other recent news reports of vehicular collisions with bicyclists in Seattle and King County also have no news followup as the reports tell readers and tv news listeners of accident victims taken to Harborview, sometimes with life-threatening injuries, but there are rarely, if ever, any follow up news reports as to whether the accident victims have survived or succumbed to their injuries. Thanks.Â
I recognize that bicycle. I have seen that guy riding along that stretch at many different hours. Unfortunately I have also saw him half way in the middle of the road. Combine darkness, rain, and dark clothing and you get what happened.
Sorry for both. Sharing the road with vehicles 3-4 times faster than you is a dangerous undertaking, even in the best of conditions. At night, on wet roads, that risk multiplies. Bicycles have no collision protection whatsoever. i have clocked over 10 thousand miles on bicycles, including in conditions like these, and I realize how lucky I was. RIP to the victim and condolences to the family. Â Â Â
