Bicyclist struck, killed as car swerves to avoid skunk

PROSSER, Wash. (AP) - A bicyclist is dead in Benton County after being struck by a car. The driver said he swerved to avoid a skunk.
KNDU reports that the accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday.
Deputies say the cyclist, 30-year-old Jared Carr of Walla Walla, appeared to have been out on a training ride, as he was equipped with proper gear.
The driver's name has not been released. He was taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital for a blood test; deputies are investigating whether alcohol may have played a role.
