SEATTLE - The familiar roar of Navy jets could return to the skies over Seafair next year.

The Navy says the Blue Angels plan a full 2014 tour of more than two dozen cities after being grounded by federal budget cuts this past summer. That includes performances in Seattle the first weekend in August.

The return of the Blue Angels is due to an outreach plan which secured funding for community-based military activities, including flights of the Blue Angels and Fleet Week in Seattle.

This past August, Seafair attendance was down 27 percent - due in large part to the absence of the Blue Angels.
