EVERETT, Wash. - Police have found a body in a wooded ravine, but they have not confirmed if it is a mentally ill man who disappeared from a nearby Everett neighborhood in late June.

The man's body was recovered just after 7 a.m. Thursday by Everett police working with Snohomish County Search and Rescue. It was found in a large wooded ravine in the 4800 block of Glenwood Avenue, said Everett police spokesman Aaron Snell.

Snell said the search area is large and had been previously checked by detectives with negative results. On Thursday morning crews searched the area again with dogs in the hopes of finding the man who disappeared on June 27.

The missing man, Todd Caudle, 49, was last seen in the 4800 block of Glenwood Avenue after being told that he was being moved to an assisted living facility so he could be better treated for his mental illness.

Snell said that Caudle has a history of trying to harm himself and is paranoid of others. He said that Caudle had to be stopped from strangling himself not long before he disappeared.

The body found Thursday morning still has not been positively identified. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death in the case, as well as his identify.
