BONNEY LAKE, Wash. - Crews have recovered the body of a 20-year-old man who went missing Saturday after going for a swim in Lake Tapps.
Officials say the man was swimming with friends in the swim area at the lake's North Park. He tried to swim across the large swim area with a friend but only made it halfway when he went under.
Rescue crews launched a search for him, and divers were able to recover his body late Saturday.
The man's name has not been released, pending notification of his next of kin. Online postings by his friends identify him as a 20-year-old rap artist visiting the area from Minnesota.
He was the third person to drown in the icy waters of Lake Tapps in the past 10 months.
Robert Harris, a 17-year-old honor student and a black belt in taekwondo, died in September 2011 while at the lake with his mother and friends.
Quentin Boggan, 16, who played wide receiver and cornerback on his high school team, drowned at the lake in June as he was celebrating the start of summer with his brothers and friends.
Lake Tapps - which is fed in part by the icy runoff from Mount Rainier - does not have lifeguards. Signs posted near popular swimming spots advise the public to swim at their own risk.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. The family really appreciate it.
Marcus is my nephew. He was an up and coming rap artist in Minnesota, but he had a mass following from people throughout the US. Marcus was only 20 years old, so he was young and still trying to feel his way through life. He had a magnetic personality and he truely loved and cared about anyone with whom he came in contact. His smile lights up any room and cancels out any darkness. He loved his friends and his family, and most of all he loved the Lord. You can look at his Youtube page: Fly Henderson or ophishal flyboy and see his love for music. He will truely be missed by all of his family and friends.

@beautybuttafly This is my favorite of his songs. I am so sorry for you loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his entire family.Â
Very sad. The people on the list who drowned there seem pretty darn athletic. Â
I don't know if you can post links here, but I am going to try. This song is prophetic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LizOdyYXxSM
Marcus (Fly) Henderson was an amazingly talented young rap artist from Minnesota. You can hear his music on YouTube including songs like Forever Ain't Enough and I Do. So sad. My prayers go out to his family and friends.Â
stuck my feet in the Dosewallips river a week ago and it felt like the bones were gonna crack after a few seconds. i know lakes are warmer but still, the waters here are not to be taken lightly.
Â
soory for this guy, frineds, family.
What an awful way to go and so young too. I think young people forget that they are mortals and life is extremely fragile. I feel sorry for his friends that had to witness this tragic event who will forever be changed by this but hopefully for the better. Lots of love and prayers for the family during this difficult time. I couldn't go on without my babies and don't even want to imagine it. RIP.
So sad, we live right in the cove there, and this all unfolded in front of our eyes. It happens so quick, no one realizes how cold the water can be, and how fast you can go down. RIP. My heart goes out to his family
Honestly, when I was a kid/young adult I swam in many lakes, I always thought I could never drown thinking I was a good swimmer. Never had a clue about hypothermia. Perhaps parents and schools could educate young folks to the dangers. Condolences to his family.
@Alert Eagle
My condolences to his family and friends. I felt the same way when I younger. I grew up in the Southwest, was a certified lifeguard and a strong swimmer, but never had a clue to the dangers of cold water swimming. Here is a link to a very informative article in a kayak magazine that explains the dangers of cold shock and swimming failure. http://www.seakayakermag.com/2008/Feb08/cold-shock.htm  All the lakes and rivers in our area should be enjoyed but treated with a degree of caution.
Always remember to use caution when swimming - don't overdo it! I am so sad for this young man, his friends and family.....RIP.
Here is the sign they need posted throughout this lake

if you choose to swim in the lake you take on the risk of injury up to and including death. Â On the dates below these people died in this lake (list the last 5 years worth including ages). Â Proceed with caution at your own risk.
@sunnysandiego I think you have something there. I always cringe if I hear someone's going swimming there, it's just TOO cold.
We live right down the street from this park and heard the action yesterday...eerily familar to last September....RIP adn prayers to family. PLEASE people be vigilant in this lake! It is COLD!
Sad. 20 years old is so young! My condolences to the family and friends. I hope they can find some peace through this.
