MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- Police are looking for the man who allegedly firebombed the house of an employee, slashed the employee's girlfriend with a box cutter, and generally wrecked up the couple's Marysville home early Friday morning.
According to the Marysville Police Department, a woman was in her bedroom in the 14500 block of 58th Drive Northeast around 3:45 a.m. when she saw her boyfriend's occasional employer running toward her open window.
The man threw a bottle into the room, and it exploded, igniting a piece of furniture, according to police.
The house's other occupants were able to put out the fire while the woman ran to the front of the house.
According to police, the man started slashing at the woman's face with a box cutter. When he realized the box cutter was closed, he opened it and cut the woman's stomach through her sweater, according to police.
At that point, the man allegedly starting throwing chopped wood and all manner of other things through the house's front window.
The woman's boyfriend, who also lives in the house, was walking home from a neighbor's house and heard the commotion.
According to police, he confronted his employer only to have him jump into a pickup truck and try to run him over.
In his attempts to run his employee over, the man smashed into a concrete lamppost and drove off, according to police.
Apparently, the employee and occasional employer had gotten into a dispute earlier, with the employer leaving a voicemail for the employee stating he was looking for him, and it wasn't going to be pretty when he found him.
In 1982 Robert Heinlien wrote a novel of a near future time in which security and police were part of the theme. Malls had chain link enclosures with guard towers at the corners and metal detectors to get in. Whoever thought that he was going to be right. The novel was Friday.
That doesn't sound the least bit sketchy by any means. *eyeroll*
How is it that Ace Reporter Harthorne get all these KWAAAZEE stories? Do they assign them on a seniority basis or does he seek them here and there?
@Getov Mylon white skin privelige
COME ON PEOPLE!!! I live in the same neighborhood as these people. This is a house full of thieves and drug users. What goes around comes around! They think nothing of stealing neighbors mail, siphoning their gas and taking anything not nailed down or locked up. By the way.....why was the son or boyfriend walking home from a "friends" house at 3:45 AM? Probably out casing our neighborhood again.....This was undoubtedly a drug deal gone bad. TOO BAD SO SAD.
It's not likely to be "pretty" when the cops catch up with him, either!
Maybe, just maybe a description of the truck would assist in catching this zombie...ya think??
Serious anger-management issues going on here. She is extremely lucky the box cutter was not open initially. The thought of how painful that would be makes me shudder.
I used to think of Washington as an inviting, safe place to be...not anymore. We continue to hear more and more stories of violence from every segment of society. It's really very sad. I hope the young woman is okay and that this person is held fully accountable for their actions.
Safe place depends upon what timeframe one lives in and where! Generally mankind has never been safe nor got along with each other in all of history.
@takncarabizniz Ya know...I don't think there is any place on this earth that is as safe "as it used to be".
@Commenter87643Â @takncarabizniz I am thinking about buying a refrigerator, throw the refrigerator away and live in the box.
@takncarabizniz I guess you forgot about Ted Bundy and the Green River Killer?
Am I the only one noticed that this was at 3:45AM? lol Who is up and looking out their window at that time?
@ShelbyBlaire Well, her boyfriend was at a neighbors house so maybe she was waiting for him.
I am. Just because you're not doesn't mean no one else is.
I am, My husband gets up at 2 am, to be to work by 4 am in downtown seattle we live in marysville. I get up and make his breakfast and lunch and set out his clothes for him. Then I talk with him on the phone till he gets there, we say a prayer together and then he goes to work. So I am always up then.Â
@trulyloved What a nice way to start the day!Â
Lots of people are getting ready for work at that time...not everyone is lucky enough to have a 9 to 5 job.
I wonder if I used to work for this guy.
I guess disgruntled ex employers are more dangerous than disgruntled ex employees.
I've worked for a few psycho employers. One in particular came to mind when I read this article. Wouldn't put it past him. I'll be interested in seeing a name and company to go with this assault charge.
I wonder how much of this happened before the age of instant news via internet that can be world wide in just minutes? Before the internet I am sure there was a fair share of stupid people for I just have to look at my family and neighborhood though today you see much more than you local area. But then is this behavior because of the internet and the instant stardom that it can create? You think you have seen all the levels of stupidity on the internet and then someone sets the new level.
And I think the only employer/employee relations here was in a meth lab...
@Beam_Me_Up Yeah, I was thinking they had a Walter White, Jesse Pinkman thing going on there
I see a lot of people commenting on the character of the victims based on the fact they were apparently up at 3:45 a.m.Â
I know a LOT of people who get up at 3 in the morning to go to work. Their spouses often get up with them to make their breakfast, pack their lunches, etc. Truckers, bakers, grocery people, people who man expresso shops (who are making coffee WAY early in the morning for those who go to work or come home then), custodial people, those that work the "early" shift at Boeing and commute to one of the further campuses... Etc. etc. etc.Â
We live in a 24/7 society. Making character judgments just based on this little snippet of information is iffy at best. The neighbor might be on the same schedule (and part of a carpool?). There may have been an on-going situation all evening (apparently the man left some kind of threatening message), thus, they may have been up for that reason as well.Â
They are victims of a crime. Why revile them, no matter WHY they were up at that time of day?Â
@theprinterlady well, do you know about crystal meth? the hour of day + the weird violence probably = meth.
(also, Marysville)
@SwampThing @theprinterlady I've lived next door to meth heads and had a meth house 3 doors down. I have close neighbors that party till 4-5 am, but THOSE neighbors are actually pretty sane, they just work jobs that keep them up till 3 am on a "normal' day".
@SwampThing @theprinterlady I have had to live next to a meth house. You are correct.
@SwampThing @theprinterlady ....Definitely...*Marysville.*
Lets see:
Occasionally Employed
Shacked Up
Walking home from a neighbors house at 3:45am on a weekday
And that's only the victims. Â
The parents all round must be real proud
Oh, my curiosity is piqued now.
Yes... ALWAYS leave a voicemail threat to help back up the case. Â
Good example of why we need laws, rules, and oversight. This numbskull needs to become a guest of our fine state.
Someone please get a hold of the democratic party and get these box knives outlawed. They are dangerous instruments that cause bodily injury unnecessarily.
@MrWittyOne ------You must have a good point----------
They were, after all, the weapon of choice for the 9/11 high-jackers.
Yep... I believe many in society are looking for their sign...... Here it's L......Loser!
you just cant make this stuff up, so awesome, better than squidbillies
First define "employer" because so many kinds of "employers" that are that crazy run through my mind. Second "generally wrecked up the couple's Marysville home" is kind of obvious and the least of their concerns yet funny it was included in the story. Hopefully the girlfriend recovers well.
I want to know what business this nutjob ran so no one I know ever does business or apply to work there.Â
@Jinjerella Esactly. I don't need a job THAT bad....
Good reason to have equipment to protect yourself with... a fire extinguisher, and a firearm..
@Mr. H I think you misspelled "fire alarm"?
@aintno1special @Mr. H What are you going to do with a fire alarm?  Throw it at him?
@aintno1special @sfvcyco @Mr. H Read it, got it, not particularly enjoyed is all.
@sfvcyco @aintno1special @Mr. H ...my delivery must really be off today!! No one is "reading" my sarcasm.Â
@sfvcyco Make the fire alarm go off and hold it next to his ear to disable him. LOL
@sfvcyco @aintno1special @Mr. H LOL!
Occasional Employer? The girlfriend and other occupants of the house were up at 3:45?  Sounds like a stellar group - as well as boyfriend. I see a bright future for all ahead!
@1opinion Not everyone works the day shift.
I am aware I share my home with one who works the pm shift  - but all the rest of the occupants in the house?
@1opinion What possible difference does it make? They were assaulted by someone. That's the point of the story. Their lifestyle, their reasons for being up... do they have to somehow justify being a "worthy" victim of a crime? Good grief.Â
