Boy, 4, hospitalized after fall from 2nd-floor hotel window

SILVERDALE, Wash. - A 4-year-old boy was hospitalized Saturday after he fell out of a hotel window onto the pavement below, authorities said.

Deputy Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office said the boy was with his parents and a younger sibling, who are from visiting from California and staying in a room on the second floor of the Oxford Suites Hotel at 9550 NW Silverdale Way.

At about 2:10 p.m. Saturday the boy climbed onto the air conditoning unit and pushed the window screen out. He tumbled about two feet onto a ledge, then fell another eight to nine feet onto the pavement below.

The boy sustained facial abrasions in the fall and was complaining of abdominal pain, Wilson said.

Medics transported the boy, who was alert and conscious, to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.
