Bus catches fire on I-5 near Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol says a charter bus caught fire Tuesday evening on northbound Interstate 5 in the Lynnwood area, temporarily disrupting traffic.

The incident happened around 8 p.m., said Trooper Mark Francis. Another driver noticed smoke coming from the bus and alerted the driver.

By the time the bus pulled over, the engine was already on fire. Francis says all 21 on board got off safely. They were loaded onto another bus and sent on their way.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
