Car rams S. Seattle building; occupants evacuated

SEATTLE - A South Seattle building was evacuated Saturday morning after a car plowed into the structure and hit a gas line, fire officials said.

But no one was injured and everyone was allowed back into the building soon afterward.

Firefighters responded to the scene, near the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and South Kenyon Street, at about 6:55 a.m. after receiving a report of a car into a building.

Fire crews evacuated everyone after discovering that the car had also hit a gas line. But after running some checks, no gas leaks were found and occupants were allowed back inside.

The car was removed, and no major damage was found to the building.

Puget Sound Energy workers are at the scene, working on the gas line.
