Child-size shoes with flesh, bones found on B.C. beach

VICTORIA, British Columbia - Three children's-size shoes with possible human remains inside are being examined by police after they washed up on a beach on Vancouver Island, according to Canadian media reports.
The three shoes contain bones and “meat-like material,” according to a report in the Vancouver Sun and on CTV News.
Victoria Police Constable Mike Russell said the shoes all appear to be the size of children's shoes, but officials won't be able to confirm whether they contain human remains until more testing is done.
CTV News reports that two of the shoes were determined to be a matching pair.
A passer-by spotted one of the shoes Thursday while walking on the beach at Clover Point in Victoria, B.C. The other two were found subsequently during a police search.
The beach was closed to the public after the grisly discovery, as police continue searching for more evidence. The coroner and a police dog also responded to the scene.
The shoes were sealed and sent to a pathologist who will test them to see whether they contain human remains.
Russell said he didn't know if the shoes could be related to last year's deadly earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Twelve other shoes with human remains inside have washed up on beaches in British Columbia and Washington state over the past few years. Only two remain unidentified.
Russell said it's not known yet whether the child-size shoes have any connection with those cases.
"It's way too early to tell if these are connected, if they're not connected, if this is a hoax, or if this is the real thing," he said. "We honestly don't know right now. We're going to have to wait until these pathology reports do come back."
Officials say the Clover Point beach will remain closed until their investigation is complete.

So many human feet found in that area, and they say previously 'it's probably nothing". I think they way downplay the seriousness. Something sick is going on. They should try harder to figure out what it is from.
I want to believe that this may be the remains of Japan's tsunami victims, but just a foot in a shoe was all that was found? Too suspicious for a tsunami victim. If that was the case, why wouldn't other body parts show up? where is the rest of the leg? Gruesome!
There are far too many of these "foot 'n shoe" happenings recently. There is some sick, demented, creep out there torturing people. By the looks of the shoe, possibly hikers? There is a lot of wooded areas in the B.C. area. Scary stuff.
Post autopsy, UFO body dumping ground...
I'm guessing the previous finds, other than the suicide, are from human smugglers doing some sea tactics to get their cargo to comply, or a numbers thing to them. There are some sick people out there and I wouldn't be surprised if they used people as a lesson to the rest of the desperate captives. This however is about the same time that debris from the tsunami has shown up. Sad all the way around
@jelisized If I remember right, other feet were from small plane crashes.
Are we living in the Twilight Zone or what???
Â
Rod Serling coulda made a bundle off this!
weird. I just saw a bones episode with shoes and feet found on a the border between the us and canada
@Debbie Nice Probably a take off on the shoes and feet they found up there starting a few years ago.
Japanese tsunami victims?
@fumblefacedolt I was thinking the same then when I saw this.Â
@fumblefacedolt You know thats what I was thinking, but the thing is feet in shoes have been washing up in British Columbia for years. No matter what its very odd.
The feet were protected by the shoes from the ocean elements which dissolve away the rest of the body. And because the shoes were sneakers, they were buoyant, allowing them to float to shore once it detached.  I believe most of the identified remains were "jumpers", if I recall correctly. I wouldn't be surprised if the shoes were from victims of the tsunami in Japan.
Folks, what we have here is a serial killer. This is so creepy. Reads just like a James Patterson novel.
This whole shoe/feet thing there is freaky.
"meat like material"...
Â
Whats up with Canada and all these finding missing body parts aye....
what the hell is in that BC water? body parts everywhere!Â
I am going to put in my will to have my feet be severed (with the shoes of course) and "released" in that area. This is the weirdest mystery and IT KEEPS HAPPENING!!!Â
Can they do some sort of DNA or genealogy test and at least determine the ethnicity of the wearer? Seems like that could at least help determine their source.
@Wabbit I am sure that they will, that is why it is being sent to a lab.
Wait?!?! Did they discover what had happened to the previous set of shoes with body parts in them? Was that a hoax or foul play?
@Cougsfan34 One shoe is thought to be a hoax, one likely linked to a person thought to have committed suicide. Some theories about 12/2004 tsunami victims from Asia. The feet are thought to have disengaged from the bodies "naturally", so many reasons for death could cause the same result.
@Jill  @Cougsfan34 True - However 90%+ of them are wearing "running" shoes. Too much of a coincidence if ya ask me. Look for/read article I posted about above. Pics in it - Shoes are New balance, Nike -all look to me to be American/Western styles - Not Asian (and yes, i know they sell Nikes, etc in Japan. :) )
@Cougsfan34 Interesting Article - about a year old, though.
Â
Ok - can't link, I guess - Google "feet found washed up on shore"
Â
It's the article from "The Daily Beast".. 2nd one that comes up.
I hope these shoes are not related to the other ones found throughout Wa and BC. Whoever has done those murders is freaky. Hopefully this just turns out to be a hoax.
I hope the material found in the shoes isn't human related however if it is, there has got to be one sick mothereffer out there that needs to get caught!
@Tattooed_Angel If it isn't human, there might still be some sick motherf*er out there playing warped pranks.
I doubt 2 shoes would wind up in the same area from a tsunami.....and the fish would have gobbled every last bit of that meat.,
@Goatee123 Well, one of the two major currents from the other side of the world comes almost straight across from Japan, hitting our coast from just north of Victoria Island to some point just south of Newport Beach, Oregon. That current brings in stuff from Japan all the time, and quite a bit of stuff is found that seems like it could have come from the same point of origin as other stuff found nearby.  That said, I suspect we have a successful serial killer or a seriously twisted group of people with a successful method of more than these three shoes having come from across the Pacific.
This is getting a little crazy.
How many are still missing from the tsunami in Japan?
@Magic 8 Ball 1000's - I remember hearing about and entire school washing away. :(
Â
If these are Tsunami victims - I think DNA can specify race - If not - Some freaky stuff happening up there!! Damn!!
Uh oh, not this again.
