OLYMPIA, Wash. -- It took them 16 years, but the Thurston County Sheriff's Office has finally identified a murder victim found in Tumwater in 1998.

The body of an unknown man turned up in March 1998 on Shelton Road south of Tumwater.

The Coroner's Office determined the man had been murdered, but there were no clues about who he was. Deputies are not saying how the man died, but they say they've finally uncovered who he was.

The victim is Richard D. McCullom, who was 32-years old at the time of his death.

McCullom was last known to live in Pierce County, and investigators have been in contact with his family and friends. They're now trying to bring McCullom's killer to justice, and they're asking for help from the public to do it.

Anyone with information about McCullom or the circumstances surrounding his death are asked to call detective Ben Elkins (360) 786-5279. They can also call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
