Courtney Gregoire officially joins Seattle Port Commission

SEATTLE (AP) - Courtney Gregoire has been sworn in as a member of the Port of Seattle Commission.
Gregoire is a lawyer for Microsoft and daughter of former Gov. Chris Gregoire. She and her husband Mike were at Friday's ceremony with Courtney Gregoire's husband Scott Lindsay, who held their 4-month old daughter Audrey.
Courtney Gregoire was selected to fill the seat left vacant when Commissioner Gael Tarleton went to the state House. The 33-year-old Gregoire will have to run for election in November to retain the seat.
The five-member commission oversees Sea-Tac Airport and cruise ship and cargo ship terminals on the Seattle waterfront.

Wow! What a bunch of jerks commenting on this! Miss your bottle much?

@rb1209333Â Â
The last sentence of your comment hit the nail on the head.
Politcal cronyism. It makes me puke!
Just goes to show you that nepotism is alive and well!
So THAT'S why they just voted themselves in a hefty raise. Wish I could do that.
Who cares, If it was any other name. Â KOMO wouldn't blink an eye.
Good Lord, the children have come out in force in the comments tonight, haven't they?
Great! Nepotism at its finest.
@Ron Gomes Bingo!
Wow! Her husband has longer hair than she does. Oh wait, she's the one with the long hair? And THAT is her husband?
I thought the same thing, but I think she is the "mother", much like her Mama.
@Robinsnest He's a stay at home mother.
I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she DOES NOT want to be just like her mother when she grows up.
Her Mother got her that job before she left Office. I remember reading about her doing that. Other wise she would be just another Lawyer. Who grew up with a golden spoon in her mouth, with no worries because her mother was Governor of Washington.
@Philip Fisher599Â so says the Mitt Romney worshiper...
Why isn't her last name Lindsay??? Another career govt lawyer......just what this state/country needs......
@SandyBeach Because she is about the traditions held strong by this countr....... oh wait, nevermind.  She's going to fit right in.  paging Indian Tribes, here is another to bribe!
Congrats to Courtney!
My son had finals this week. Where's his article?
s he will join the others ripping off the taxpayers. What is the only port on the west coast which has to go to taxpayers? They have no shame. And don't need to pandering to the unions.
If you ever doubted how ugly and mean right wingers are, read on...
OrcasThunder the righteous right wingers would take a semi attractive woman who is obnoxious and unable to name the countries in NAFTA vs a civil educated intelligent average (what ever that is) looking woman. Consider the source.
@OrcasThunderÂ
Agree. Â Ugly and mean is all they have.
They love their anointed bush family, the right wing has not been in the Oval Office since 1928 without a Nixon or bush on the ticket...that is why they are 'grooming' jeb now, it is all they have, the 'born to it' bushes.  Those  are the 'born to it's' they love....
@MoclipsHumptulips Isn't there a tree that needs humping? Â
@OrcasThunder Let's review some of OT's adjectives from his own posts, shall we? You call others; idiotic, stupid, ignorant.Â
Please school us Mary Ephen Poppins.
@OrcasThunder From the man who JUST called Righty, "ugly and mean!"
I refuse to take "civility" lessons from you or any other Progger. Projection is the word I am thinking of.
@Getov Mylon @OrcasThunder And what is REALLY telling is the fact that you don't even bother to deny it...
@Getov Mylon @OrcasThunder I'm well past "65", but if you insist I'll call is what it is - bullying.Â
Mean spirited, judgmental, bullying.
You judge the child of someone you don't like by the dislike you have of the parent.
@OrcasThunderSorry, had to go to work but.... any 65 year-old man that uses the term, "borderline bullying," should get his fainting couch re-upholstered.
@Getov Mylon@OrcasThunder"I refuse to take "civility" lessons from you"
And I never bother to offer them to the right, waste of time.Â
As to "words" that come to mind, a number of the right wing comments here are petty, picayune, even borderline bullying. If you can't see that, you are as blind as we all think you are.
When I started working at a large law firm in 1971, my boss was also a Seattle Port Commissioner. Their salary was $1 PER YEAR, LESS TAXES! Now, at a young 94, he is still going strong and I continue to work part-time for him, although he has long-since retired as an attorney.Â
Most curious how her husband is a lawyer that graduated lawdy lawdy from Georgetown, yet, isn't a member of the Bar Association here.Â

@Getov Mylon It says he works for a law firm in D.C.Â
@lakeview Right, that was back in 2008. So now she lives here and he lives... where? Curious.
@tufa23Â It's a gift for sure, because it spews forth with very little effort on my part.
@Getov Mylon @lakeview something tells me snark comes naturally to you, get off...
@Getov Mylon  We know you are 'curious' about her husband Get Off.  Look at your comments on this board.  The article has nothing to do with him, but you are INFATUATED!  It's kind of cute this little crush you have, except that it's bordering on creepy and insecure....FYI....
@seattlewaysStop telling me to, "Get off." This is a family forum. Have some respect.
@Getov Mylon @seattleways  I should then refer to you by your full name, Get Off My Lawn?  Given how taken you are with Mr. Gregoire something tells me you have already.......well, never mind. Â

Well, the bottom line here is that it's an elected position and anyone who thinks someone else should fill the position has the right to vote for someone else. Guess her on the job performance will determine how well she is qualified. I think it's safe to say that there might have been some influence in her direction when this position was filled, wouldn't be the first time it happened in government.
I'm curious how this will affect Courtney's new trustee board position with the Seattle Community Colleges...you know the board seat that her mom appointed her to in October on her way out the door. Â
Â
How much you want to bet that she wears the pants in the family? You can just tell based off that photo.
@Tattooed_Angel2 I made an allusion to that effect and I have suffered no endless grief for it. I am so upset  that I can't watch "Property Brothers."
It's not what you know, it's who you know. Â
Not sure what a lawyer from Microsoft brings to the table concerning Seattle port operations.Â
@lakeview"Not sure what a lawyer from Microsoft brings to the table concerning Seattle port operations."
Influential connections?
Nah... she  is there because... because...Â
it's not the salary they get paid, it's the perks that go along with the job. Just a stepping stone for her future. Guess mommy got her the job, ya think?Â
@glideman  Totally.  It's like, duh, a WOMAN being chosen to replace a woman?  Must have been a conspiracy for BOTH of them to find success like that, right Glideman? Â
Yea! Â Jumping to conclusions and writing derogatory comments about people we don't know from behind our computers! Â We're such MEN! Â Yeeeeehaw!
@seattleways So you you think her mother Chis Gregoire had no influence in her getting this position? C'mon now, I assume you are smarter than that.
@Butter
Name calling, referring to people as a ______phobe, Etc, is all the left has. Name calling, dirty politics, and being apologists for failed "leaders" and policies. Pathetic.
@seattleways @rightandexact I doubt it has much to do with "irrational anger and hate for our woman governor" as much as it does our disappointment for our past liberal democratic mess that just left the Capital. But we traded one for another as it turns out. I find it funny how we must hate women if we did not like Chris G. much like we must not like blacks if we do not like Obama. Could it be that we just do not agree with there policies and political agendas?
@rightandexact @seattleways rightandexact - No.  I do not claim the Governor didn't have influence.  I also do not claim that any of the other commissioners or city council members or CEOs or elected representatives, etc. etc. did not get their job because of some influence. Â
Because it could be as equally possible that, imagine this, she was well qualified for the job. Â
Nah....it's easier for all the people with irrational anger and hate for our woman Governor to then attack the qualifications of her daughter. Â
