Crane breaks at Wash. construction site; 2 injured
CASHMERE, Wash. (AP) - Officials at a Cashmere, Wash., construction site say two workers suffered minor injuries when a crane broke while lifting a 50,000-pound concrete slab.
The Wenatchee World reports that the crane was lifting the piece of flooring at a controlled storage facility Friday when the crane's boom folded.
Bethlehem Construction president Mike Addleman says the slab damaged five concrete wall panels already in place.
Addleman says one worker was thrown into the air but was caught by his safety harness. He was treated at a hospital for bruises. A second worker was treated for rope burns.
Addleman says the crane was owned and operated by Russell Crane Services of Yakima.
The state Department of Labor and Industries will investigate.
