Crash near Poulsbo leaves 1 dead

POULSBO, Wash. -- One person was killed and another injured when the car they were in crashed into a power pole northeast of Poulsbo early Monday.

North Kitsap Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Michele Laboda said the crash happened about 4:38 a.m. near the intersection of Miller Bay Road and Orseth Road.

When firefighters arrived one person was already dead and the other person was taken to Harrison Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

No information about the person who was killed has been released, and it was not immediately clear if the person was the driver or passenger in the car.

Sheriff's deputies are trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
