WOODINVILLE, Wash. -- The Problem Solvers put a local TV repair shop on the spot after customers insisted they never got the repairs they were promised.
A customer contacted KOMO News to say she was fed up with the upfront charges, delays and excuses she experienced at Woodinville's Seattle TV Repair.
The Problem Solvers got action for her, and in the process discovered a string of angry customers with the same "poor reception."
Sharon Schaffner is fed up.
She said she was told it would take a week to fix her television. She paid Seattle TV Repair almost $450 up front, and after 27 days she still had no TV.
With help from the Problem Solvers, a store clerk promised to give Schaffner her television and her $443.
But there was a problem.
The clerk suddenly claimed he didn't have authority to sign a refund check and swore he didn't have the cash. He asked Schaffner to come back later.
He also blamed her older model TV for the repair delays.
"It's just a whirlwind of problems when we deal with these older TVs," said John, a clerk at the store. "Usually we have them in stock, but in some cases we don't."
The Problem Solvers learned about five other customers who were so outraged with the store's up front costs and lack of refunds and repairs that they filed formal complaints with the Attorney General.
John said he's the person who responds to such complaints and said "I'm pretty sure we're clear with them."
During the hour the Problem Solvers spent at Seattle TV Repair, two more customers showed up with the same complaint.
Randall Hendrickson said he paid $500 for repairs almost three months ago and still hasn't seen any results.
"I don't think the business is really a legit business," Hendrickson said.
On the heels of Hendrickson's arrival, the Considines showed up, who said they've been trying to get their television back for three months.
With some pressure from the Problem Solvers, the family finally got their TV back.
John, the clerk, also said he found the $443.38 to pay back Schaffner.
After hiring Seattle TV Repair, Schaffner learned the Better Business Bureau had given the company an "F" rating.

I have the same problm as you Gary pleas e-mail me at eddieleemac@aol.com
I was not aware of any of these problems before contacting Seattle TV Repair. On 12/20/2012 Roger a worker from this company came to my home and looked at my TV. He advised me of repairs needed and I paid $500.00 while being informed TV would be returned in one week.. After waiting nearly two weeks I contacted number on my reciept and left a message. I had informed this business I was filing a complaint with the Attorney General. Today is the 21st day my TV has been with this business.
@Gary 12/20/2012? That's nothin'. They took my TV and $$ in May 2012. After badgering 'em for weeks, I finally got my TV back in August, but it wasn't fixed. I think they fired the lousy in-house tech back then and now Roger is picking up all the extra work. No sympathy for him from me, though, because it was weeks and they still didn't come try again. So, I demanded a refund a few weeks ago and am still waiting. Stand in line, Gary, me first!
