Dealer killed by Wenatchee police was ex-informant

WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) - Court documents show that a drug dealer shot and killed by a Wenatchee police officer earlier this month was a former informant.

The Wenatchee World reports that Robert Jeffrey Harris was shot by Officer Scott Reiber in the parking lot of a Taco Bell following a struggle on December 12.

Documents show that drug investigators from the Columbia River Drug Task Force had made four successful purchase of methamphetamine from Harris in the two months before the shooting. Harris was being watched by authorities, including tapping his phone and aerial surveillance.

The affidavit also shows that the 43-year-old had been an informant after he was arrested in July 2012. Criminal charges in that case were withheld after Harris agreed to work with the task force.

But even while he helped with controlled buys, task force investigators were told that Harris continued to sell meth on his own.
