Police: Decades-old photo could be key to solving murder case

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Police believe a decades-old photo of a Bellevue bowling team could help bring justice in a 33-year-old murder case.
The photo, taken in 1979 or 1980, shows five bowlers who may be able to connect the dots in the murder of 19-year old Susan Lowe.
Lowe was found strangled in her Bellevue apartment in April 1980. After 33 years of looking, a DNA match led detectives to Michael Halgren, who prosecutors charged last month with first-degree murder.
But there are still missing pieces.
"Memory's a strange thing," said Bellevue Police officer Seth Tyler. "We're looking for anything that can tie our suspect in this case to the victim in this case."
One likely connection was the Sun Villa Lanes in Eastgate. In 1979 through 1980, Lowe was active there with a regular bowling league. Police say Halgren often went to the bowling alley to watch his fiance bowl.
Though Sun Villa is now shuttered, a picture remains of five bowlers on a team called "Who Cares." Police believe any one of them may have seen something or heard something that could be an important detail in the murder case.
"We'd like to talk with them and see if they remember anything about their experience with the bowling team," Tyler said.
Anyone with information about the photo or the murder case is asked to call the Bellevue Police Department.

It was the individual with the bad hair.
Is Susan Lowe one of the people in the picture? Would be helpful to know. Anyway, Michael Halgren is a sexual predator who is already locked up for his other sexual crimes. Considering this and the fact that she was raped, seems as if his 'not guilty' plea doesn't hold much water.

Glad that DNA is helping to catch and exonerate people. Condolences to the family of Susan Lowe.
This is not exactly the most informative article, but then it is typical for KOMO. So we can assume the victim, Susan Lowe, was engaged to Michael Halgren. If that is the case, I would not be surprised to find his DNA on her and around her apartment.  There must be a little bit more to this. After 33 years, can anyone say that they saw this couple together and does that mean anything?     Â
@oldster70 When the lights went out, the butler slipped in. The butler did it.
 @oldster70 Actually, you can't assume any such thing. The article doesn't say who Halgren's fiancee was. If he was engaged to Lowe, it wouldn't have taken all this time to link his DNA to her. Friends they had at the time would have been able to link them.
 @Commenter87643  @oldster70 I had also assumed that Halgren was Susan Lowe's fiance, based on this from the written article: "In 1979 through 1980, Lowe was active there with a regular bowling league. Police say Halgren often went to the bowling alley to watch his fiance bowl."Â
I was not until I watched the video that I hear that Halgren when to watch "his fiance, another woman, bowl."
 @here_I_go_again  @Landon McCalmon  @BravesPackersCougzSounders Don't sweat it. BCPS is lucky he can read, let alone form a sentence without calling mommy down to his basement apartment to help. (and tends to be overly critical of people) It's all good.

You guys are brutal. I normally have VERY good grammar and sentence structure, and I made the President's list several times while in college - in fact, I never got less than a 4.0 in any class. Sometimes we just rattle off a quick post on FB or discussion forums, and the auto-correct does strange things. But thanks for pointing out the error of my ways. I'll make sure do to the same for you next time :(
@BravesPackersCougzSounders @oldster70 @here_I_go_again @Commenter87643
Thatâs right kids. Stay in school so you too can learn to use punctuation.
 @BravesPackersCougzSounders  @oldster70  @here_I_go_again  @Commenter87643 Or your lack of sentence structure.........
 @BravesPackersCougzSounders  @here_I_go_again  @Commenter87643 ???????
 @oldster70  @here_I_go_again  @Commenter87643 Kids, need a reason to stay in school, just read the comments above.Â

Thank you for that clarification.  It now makes a lot more sense. Â
John Lennon, Squeaky Fromme, Bob Dylan, Marlboro Man, and then Hillary Clinton.
Hey, look, I think I know what happened to the bowling team:

 @John Bailo You beat me to it. I just wanted to check to see if anyone had done it yet.
With a name like 'Who Cares', I'm sure they'll all be very happy to help. /lolÂ
