Deputies: Ore. model charged with sex abuse of teen boys

NEHALEM, Ore. - Detectives with the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office said they have arrested a 31-year-old woman for sex crimes involving under-age boys.
Anna R. Welsh, 31, had sexual contact with at least one boy and sent and requested "pornographic images" from victims according to deputies, who also said at least three boys 15 to 16 years old were involved.

Welsh worked as a promotional model and has an entry on a modeling website, where she said she is 28 years old and from Manzanita.
Deputies said she is charged with two counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, one count of sodomy and three counts of sex abuse.
Welsh's father-in-law told KATU News on Friday that this has been an incredibly sad time for the family, including Welsh's three young children.
Neighbors said Welsh is an active member of the community.
Welsh is on the board of directors of New Discoveries Preschool, according to the Headlight Herald news website. An employee there said she resigned on Monday, just a few days before her arrest.
Neighbors said she also operates the IGA grocery store in Manzanita with her family.
"I felt personally hurt, like it was my own kid," said neighbor Randy Gardner, who saw her being arrested.
KATU called Welsh's attorney and we have not yet heard back. As of Friday, she was being held in the Tillamook County Jail on $100,000 bail.

Women tend to do this for different reasons that men. Â It's generally because they like the attention they get from a younger man as opposed to one their own age that expects more. Â But right now its hard to say without information.

When my husband was 13 years old, he was manipulated into having sex with a college age woman. At the time, he liked it. But once he matured mentally, he realized it was wrong, and it encouraged him to be too sexual, too young. I don't care if it is every child's fantasy, adults have no right to be looking at a minor as a sexual object.

Wow, that's kind of heavy even for a introverted teenage girl. Sorry but there are not many current or ex-teenage boys out there who share your views. Most of the teenage boys who would have been scared by this, have grown up and moved to San Fransisco.  Â
So at this age your old enough to make responsible decisions like driving a car. In doing so your decisions effect every car your on the road with and the lives that are in it. Wrong judgments can kill in an instant. But your incapable of having consensual sex. Anyone else see something wrong in that?

 @TruthinAdverts Pretty self explanatory if you read my post. You can't tell a fifteen year old they are old enough to make responsible decisions on some things with huge ramifications then turn around and say they are not old enough to have consensual sex with someone. Its just hypocritical.Â
For hundreds upon thousands of years kids this age were commonly already married. Men and women alike and significant age differences was not uncommon at all. Â It wasn't perverse but normal. Now in the last fifty years humans lifespan has increased to twice what it was for thousands of years and society seems to expect to undue what was normal and acceptable for that time. Well you can't change human nature that fast. Â Why were people at that age not "damaged" or "abused" for having relationships and now suddenly they are? Evolution doesn't always catch up at the rate we want or expect it to.Â
Whether it's a teens boy's fantasy or not it's sick that a woman in her 30's wants to have sex with them. I see young boys and think maternal thoughts - not sexual thoughts.
lock this sexual predator up as she deserves to be... right along with the 31 year old men who are sexually abusing 15 year old girls. The posters that support this mentality as somehow "hot" are as sick and perverted as this sexual abuser.Â

If she is guilty of doing what she's accused of then she deserves to be handled exactly the same way as a male offender. Â The act is carried out in the same fashion. Â The second she communicates to arrange this she is guilty. The "these boys were not victims" argument is getting old and doesn't address the fact that a crime has been committed. Â These laws are in place to try to protect children from abuse whether is comes from a male or female perpetrator. Â What we think if she was arrested for solicitation by an officer posing as a 16 yr old? Â These charges are more serious. Â Would she deserve any consideration? Â I think not. Â Â Â
 @Brett I guarantee you, if she is found guilty, her sentence will not even be in the same realm as if it had been an older male with a 15 yr old female. Â

I'm a bit perplexed at some of the comments. Â A married mother of 3 does this and draws laughs, but if a 31-year-old married father did this to a young girl (or boy), people would be screaming 'get a rope' and other such things. Â Whether it's a boy's fantasy or not, it's still a crime, and her husband and kids are probably devastated as well.
 @Doxie Agreed. And if you think that 15 years old boys just want to have sex and this is harmless, think again. Her control and emotional manipulation over these boys can have serious long term physiological impacts.Â
 @Ethan Allen I think Mary Kay LeTourneau's husband could attest to that.  He was manipulated into fatherhood (twice) and getting married at a very young age (13!)  to someone old enough to be his mom and who is now a grandmother.  She is 50 and he's in his 20s and responsible for adolescent girls and a wife.  His life was altered forever.  Granted, not every case is that extreme, but there are ramifications for victims of predators.  I felt very sorry for Mary Kay' first husband and kids and feel the same for this woman's family. Â

 @OrcasThunder  @Ethan Allen Maybe - but he doesn't know anything else.  And with age/experience come wisdom.  My parents were awful and I accepted it as life for a long time, but as I get older and have more clarity and less denial, I really resent them for what they put on us kids.  One is dead and I keep distance from the other.  I suspect at some point, he will resent the fact that he was tricked into fatherhood at 13 and ended up married someone who had done prison time and whose other kids were almost his age.  Not only that, his mother retained custody of his children even after he was married.  It's a lot of heavy stuff.

REALLY? Going to jail for making some boys happy? All boys that age want is more girls willing to do this! It is absurd for the age of consent being 18, in so many parts of the world it's 15.

@Shabadoo You're right (some exceptions apply for 16/17 year olds). Making this really absurd, for some reason a 17 yo is a kid in one state and an adult in another (regarding sex that is). Still, any case close to the artificial age boundary should be considered carefully, and not just convict because "it is the law", if the law doesn't work, make a new one. I'm not the only one here thinking that these boys were not "abused" but actually must have had a great time and no bad consequences. Any man that was already kind of desperate at that age understands me I'm sure :)Â
