Deputies: Roommate fight leads to stabbing in Clallam County

JOYCE, Wash. -- Clallam County sheriff's deputies say a Tuesday night fight between two roommates took a violent turn when one of the roommates stabbed the other in the face and body.

Deputies were called to a home in the 45200 block of Highway 112 just after 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found 62-year-old Alfred Keys bleeding from what appeared to be several knife wounds on his face and torso, according to deputies.

Deputies investigated the scene and came to the conclusion that Keys' roommate, 59-year-old Shannon Birklund, was the attacker. Birklund was arrested on suspicion of first-degree domestic violence assault. He was booked into Clallam County Jail.

Keys was taken to Olympic Medical Center for treatment. Deputies say he is now in stable condition.
