Deputies: Woman, drunk in court, rats out father; both arrested

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a Salem woman accused of driving under the influence arrived in court Friday with a blood-alcohol content of .43 percent — more than five times the legal limit.
Marion County sheriff's office spokesman Don Thomson said the judge ordered 36-year-old Stacy Weigart to take the breath test after noticing she was intoxicated. The judge ordered her to be jailed for breaking an earlier release agreement.
As a deputy escorted Weigart to jail, the woman mentioned that her father had driven her to court and he had a warrant out for his arrest — also for driving under the influence.
Thomson says 63-year-old Daniel Weigart was arrested in the parking lot.
something about falling apples and trees, comes to my mind....
A family that drinks together, goes to court together, and then jail together....... stays together.  awwwwww! how sweet!!!!!!
Â
OMG, thats the funniest thing I have heard today...
that apple didnt fall far.
Cue the banjo music.
LOL, keep it in the family
What a sweet girl, I bet her Father will be thinking of her as he goes through the tortures of withdrawal.
Now those two are a fine looking father/daughter combination.....not! I have no solution, but do so wish all states could find a way to keep drunks/alcoholics from driving forever. Drying out in jail, suspended license, no car, etc., does not eliminate the problem. Even when these types kill an innocent person, they are out driving again in a very short time. One guy recently received life for DUI, but think he had about 20 cases.
Wouldn't it be nice if all these people would spontaneously combust? Save us a lot of money.
@Klondiko My wish as well but this won't happen. What if we put a chip on them that acts like a shock collar. everytime they get into the drive seat it shock the person and disable the vehicle...lol
Nice. I like when stories work out like this. One idiot turns in another. Faaaaaaabulous.
Classy. No, really!
Obviously driving on public roads with enough alcohol on board to make Otis Campbell look like a lightweight isn't a concern for her.
So why did she rat out her equally pickled father who'd risked jail, more fines and further loss of his own license to drive her to her own court date when it was her own stupidity that got her caught yet again?
Â
He sure didn't do us any favors, either directly by driving in his condition or indirectly by helping keep his idiot daughter out of jail, but he did her a big favor. Had it not been for her own idiocy of showing up "obviously intoxicated" she probably would have walked out a semi-free woman, and she thanked him by getting him thrown in jail?
Â
I guess there is no honor among skeeves.Â
What is it with these breathalyzer readings in Oregon? She blows a .43 and is still standing, albeit barely.
Â
The Oregon man who crashed his truck with rear wheels the only thing keeping him from sailing over the side of the bridge, blows a .50 and has nary a scratch other than the black eye.
Â
I thought high reading like those = death from alcoholic poisoning.
@newsreader Professional alcoholics can blow .5+ and still be walking and talking.  This is not a surprise.
Jesus, I didn't think of that...
@newsreader The roads are full of these "maintenance alcoholics". Scary.
The readings have nothing to do with Oregon. These are hardcore alcoholics who have somehow mastered the art of remaining upright while completely blitzed. These BALs would knock out and, easily, kill an average person, but their bodies can stand it - genetics and built-up tolerance combine for the effect.
Â
They need to be taken off the street. I'm pleased that the younger idiot facilitated the incarceration of her father. One less menace on the road.
@Jill You are correct, every state has their share of drunks. No state can figure out how to keep them off of the roads.
@Jill Even scarier is that if these two hardcore alcoholics were to suddenly stop drinking, they'd likely die from alcohol withdrawal.
@stamperzann  Never realized that. How would you manage the gradual withdrawal without encouraging the dependency?
Â
Is that something county jail medical staff would recognize and know how to manage/where to send them? Obviously jail staff has more experience with alcoholics and drug addicts in general, but this seems far more complex than even the usual addiction/withdrawal issues.
Potatoes grow potatoes...
 @justmyopinion And make vodka.
 @Chico  @justmyopinion I say po-tay-toe, you say po-tah-toe, let's call the whole thing Smirnoff...
@MargeGunderson That was a good one!
.43 and she could still walk and talk....impressive.
@MidnightRambler .43 and she could still breath into the thing... also impressive.
Forget the trial now. It is all too obvious she is guilty. I hope she left the courtroom with an instant guilty verdict.
Alcoholism is an ugly thing. Dad looks like there's some significant liver damage. Nice thing to teach your daughter!
Children of alcoholics are not taught how to be alcoholics. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't.
@Cinn No, mostly it's taught. I don't agree that it's genetic component leads to a story like this without the parent paving the way. A child with addiction genetics will not be as attracted to alcohol in a non drinking house.
Another reality show coming to a TV near us all very soon. Birds of a feather.........
@Troglidite It will be titled "Extreme...[something]"
Everything is a reality show now, and everything is "extreme".
Ahhh yes, keeping it in the family. Good to see families have each others' backs in these tough times.
She needed to make sure her dad was not going to drink all the beer.Â
Show up to court liquored up? What a train wreck.
Some people should never ever drink alcohol!

@deadcandance I don't know that it's most...some people can have a drink or two and be better for it. Others intake any alcohol at all and it's all downhill from there. We have both types in our family, and a couple of them refuse to learn that they should never drink.
But judge, my daddy and I were just having a few at home before he brought me here. You can ask him, he's outside in his car
what a nice American family
@Larry*X*K These types come in all varieties.
The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.
What a sweet gal. I'll wait for you on the outside....
lol
Obviously a dumb trashy family overall.
@Zoso I know this girl and yes she is obviously being an idiot and so is her father but she has other family who are amazing law abiding people so please don't label the whole family for the awful stuff  these two are doing.
Her mother tried very hard in high school to get her help. Her poor family had to suffer basically loosing a child and cut her off entirely.Â
I'm not condoning anything she has done I'm just standing up for her family that has tried to help and that are very good people. (obviously not her father)
