Disabled woman rescued from burning home by off-duty firefighter

NORTH BEND, Wash. - A disabled woman was rescued from her burning North Bend home by an off-duty volunteer firefighter Friday night just moments before flames spread to her room, officials said.
Rick Scriven, safety officer with Eastside Fire & Rescue, said the off-duty firefighter was driving by the home, in the 13600 block of 432nd SE, when he noticed smoke and flames at about 9:15 p.m. Friday.
The firefighter stopped, and a neighbor told him that the woman was still inside the home, so he ran inside and rescued her.
"He was able to go and grab the occupant, drag the occupant out of the structure and into the front yard," Scriven said.
Someone called 911 and fire crews arrived within moments - but by then flames had engulfed much of the home.
Scriven said it was a difficult fire to fight and the home was a total loss.
The disabled woman and another occupant of the home were taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.
The cause remains under investigation, but the preliminary conclusion is that the blaze was started by candles, Scriven said.

My grandfathers House Burned Down and His Very Old Incapable Brother Was carried from the burrning house by a younger Female Family member who was on the property the Firefighter and rescue team did an amazing job but they did not arrive on the scene untill everyone was already out of the house... Komo is going to be fixing the inaccuracy, I was told today.
If the article isn't true, what is the truth then?
@ponyupsir I've no idea what happened at this particular event, but suffice to say... though it's wise not to believe everything you see on the news... it's probably even wiser to not believe everything you read in the comments section
Obviusly it was the intent of KOMO news to falsify a story and make up some lies during a tragic time for my family whoever reported on this story clearly doesnt care about the TRUTH because the entire story is wrong and inaccurate.
your RIght FultonC, I know you, and your family. What you say is the Truth. What that Paper said was a fabrication. For what ever Reason Who knows.? They made someone look like a Hero, when that was not the truth. Your cousin should be the Hero. I am Glad no one was Hurt, God Bless ;)

There are still good people in this world!
@Magic 8 Ball Far more good than bad. Unfortunately, we normally only hear about the bad.
It wasn't a women it was a 76 year old man who was bedridden and i know this because this was my house and this is no where near the statement of accuracy

@FultonC Glad there were not casualties. Sorry to hear that this report is so inaccurate. I usually cross check all stories because of this trend of reporting.
God bless and keep safe our firefighters everywhere.................
Wow, right time, right place! The loss of a home is sad but this could have been way more tragic.
