Divers search for swimmer missing in Lake Tapps
SUMNER, Wash. -- Divers are searching for a 20-year-old man who is missing after going for a swim in Lake Tapps.
Officials say the man was swimming with friends in the swim area at the lake's North Park. He tried to swim across the large swim area with a friend but only made it half way.
The man's name has not been released.

I was just over on kiro where they actually stay updated on their news stories. They have recovered this young man's body. He was visiting here from the midwest. His girl friend tried to save him and almost drown in the process. This is so sad, it happens every year. My prayers go out to his family.
And what is truly unfortunate is that it is mostly young men and women that die on this lake because they tend to mix alcohol, a sense of immortality and cold water.
Â
I hate to say it but if August ever comes, we can probably expect 1-2 more deaths on this lake.
Condolences to the family of the deceased.
Â
I live on tapps and people unfamiliar with the lake are often surprised by both how cold the water is, and the fact that there exists a strong current of even colder water beneath the surface.
Deepest sympathies to family and friends.
@fyrefawx Why don't you wait for an actual death before you post your deepest sympathies?
@4America2  @fyrefawx How often are divers used to rescue a swimmer?
Â
Sadly the east pierce search and rescue divers are more accurately described as search and recovery divers.
Thats two lives taken this year by Lk Tapps. Please be careful on this lake folks.

@alwayslast No taste, no sensitivity, not funny.
@fyrefawx I was not trying to be funny. When I wrote this there was nothing but a headline. I don't understand today's reporters, they appear to be lazy or drunk.Â
So excuse me for living, you witch.
@fyrefawx "Deepest sympathies to family and friends" Way to forecast his death. Maybe hold out for the positive until a body is found? I question your taste and sensitivity.

Just how long do you think people can hold their breath? There's no good outcome on this. By the time divers are called out, it's a recovery mission, not a rescue mission.Â
