Bus tunnel reopens after suspicious package hoax

SEATTLE - The downtown bus tunnel has reopened after police determined that a suspicious package on a light rail train was a hoax.

The tunnel was closed and Sound Transit light rail service was suspended north of Stadium Station shortly after 10 a.m. Friday after the package was spotted.

Buses that normally use the tunnel were temporarily routed to surface streets during the closure, King County Metro officials said.

Light rail service continued between Stadium Station and Sea-Tac Airport during the tunnel closure.
