Driver slams into house while trying to escape from cops
TACOMA, Wash. -- A man who was speeding away from police lost control of his car and slammed into a house in Tacoma early Friday.
Officials said the chase began just after 2 a.m. when a Pierce County sheriff's deputy tried to pull the driver over south of Tacoma.
The driver refused to stop and sped away, and at one point got on Interstate 5 going the wrong direction.
Police stopped chasing him when he got on the freeway, but resumed the chase when he exited I-5.
At one point the driver slowed down to let a passenger jump out of the car and then sped off again.
Officials said the driver lost control when he tried to swerve out of the way of another car near 38th and South L Street, causing him to slam into the side of a brick duplex.
No one inside the house was hurt, but the 44-year-old man who was driving the car was seriously injured in the crash.
He was taken to a local hospital where he was expected to recover.
It was not immediately clear why deputies initially tried to pull the car over, but police said the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant.
Police shut down roads near the crash scene for several hours while they collected evidence and crews worked to clear the wrecked car.

Crashing through the house that seems to me like attempted murder
I bet this gut can't even pay his medical bills from this crash. Hope the home owner has insurance.
C'mon guys.Give him a break...He's 44 years old.His Momma says he's a responsible man. He's turning his life around, going to get his GED and be a productive citizen.(sarcasm).............Throw the book at him.Old enought to know better.
Aww c'mon, This was just a good guy, with an outstanding warrant having a bad day.

He needs to go away for a very long time...
How about we let the perp rot in jail per each $1,000 in damage to property = 1 year in the slammer. As we know the scumbag doesn't have the money to pay for the repair to the house life in prison should just about cover it.
@Chico This is why I think they should have exercise bikes in prison hooked to generators that feed the public power grid. Criminals can work off their sentences in megawatts owed. The ultimate "green" prison.
The car looks like it was beat with a ugly stick.
@I Like Meat I think that happens when you crash it into a house......
@Susabelle Yea but it looks like he hit it four times..one for each side of the car. No matter...it'll buff right out.

@steelheader The "more for me and you" doesn't belong but I agree with the first part.
This is a metaphor for what the Democrats are doing to the country. Driver=Obama, car=Marxist economy, house=America's future.
@KOMO_Sapiens Someone is still mad about the election...
are you off your meds again?
 @KOMO_Sapiens you must be joking
@steelheader  I'm sure they are serious. Truly sad when folks don't have a life.
KOMO_Sapiens Is it? You've just passed Judgement on half the country, Obama, and Marx which BTW, what would Marx have to do with bail outs and bonuses for bankers? Would Marx cut the wages of the workers at GM? Would Marx have people tortured at Bagran? Would Marx deliver 30 million new paying customers to the insurance industry with no cost containment?
Â
I dont think you have any grasp at all of what Marxism is and you must have simply heard the word on TV and are now repeating it as if you knew what it meant.
@steelheader Because passing judgment on the KOMO message boards is such a rich and fulfilling life?
People like this loser need to be locked up for a long long time. Anyone who chooses to be this stupid and reckless and thinking its okay to put everyone elses lives at risks for their own selfish agenda should not be allowed to be free. This jack-wagon should be charged with the equivalent of attempted manslaughter in the very least. He CHOSE to do this....
Jack-wagon! LOL :0)
@BocaBob Its so hard to keep my language clean! ;-)
@The WA Mama  @BocaBob All I can think of when I hear that word is the Geico commercial with R. Lee Emery where he acts as a psychiatrist. I lost it every time that played on TV. "Let's head on over to namby-pamby land and get some self confidence for ya, ya jack-wagon!"
I wish police could disable the drivers side air bags when idiots try running. Be less money the tax payers have to put out for these idiots.
@Beam_Me_Up Pretty soon cars are going to have shut downs built into the electronics so they can during a high speed chase just shut down the vehicle. It sure would stop the a lot of the  risks to lives and property.Â
@DEC212012  @Beam_Me_Up Doesn't Toyota have the opposite installed on their cars?
What a dumbass. Hope he's seriously hurt, he deserves to be for putting others at risk and being that stupid. A good crippling so he can't get behind the wheel ever again is what's needed for this clown.
After several stories this week of wanton drivers having issues with cops around 2:00AM, it might be safe to assume that 90% of drivers at this time are probably 1) drunk, 2) have just, are in the process of will commit a crime, or 3) (My personal favorite) are attempting the ever dangerous and increasingly popular 'Fap-n-drive'...
When will people learn that running from cops works maybe once in a 1000 tries.
Also just because your stupid car or stolen car can do 100-110 mph it doesn't mean it should because most likely it wasn't built to be safe at that speed, specially if it cost downward of 60 grand
