SEATTLE - Seattle Seahawks player Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch has been fined by the NFL for violating the league's media policy.

The football running back was fined $50,000 for not talking to the media, that is, until Friday when he met briefly with reporters. Lynch spoke for less than 90 seconds, and his longest answer was 24 words when asked about the Seahawks' focus this week not knowing who their opponent will be.

NFL players are required by the NFL to be available to the media "following every game, and regularly during the practice week as required under league rules and their contracts."

Their policy states: "Cooperation with the news media is essential to the continuing popularity and financial prosperity of our game and its players. This is an important part of your job, especially in these challenging times when everyone in the NFL must do more to promote our game."

The Seahawks will open the postseason next Saturday when they host a divisional playoff game. It will be the first time Seattle has hosted a playoff home game beyond the wild-card round since the 2005 postseason, when the Seahawks had home-field advantage and made their only Super Bowl trip.

Lynch finished the regular season with 1,257 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns.
