Ellensburg couple accused of severe child abuse
ELLENSBURG, Wash. (AP) - An Ellensburg man is accused of beating his girlfriend's two children so severely both are in a Seattle hospital.
Police arrested 27-year-old Reuben Mulamba on Tuesday for investigation of child assault. They also arrested his 23-year-old girlfriend Ashly Eli for investigation of criminal mistreatment.
The Daily Record reports they appeared Wednesday in Kittitas County Superior Court and are jailed for a Feb. 13 arraignment.
Deputy Prosecutor Chris Herion says Eli's 4-year-old daughter is in critical condition with internal bleeding and kidney failure. Eli's 8-year-old son is in stable condition. Both have cuts, bruises and infected wounds.
Eli told investigators Mulamba hit the children with a belt, piece of wood or electrical cord. She said he also pinched them with a pair of pliers.
