PACIFIC, Wash. -- Fresh off his firing of the city clerk and four police officers, embattled Pacific Mayor Cy Sun is now taking on the teamsters union and a growing number of unhappy residents.

The teamsters are representing the four officers who were fired after arresting Sun last week.

All of this is happening with picketers surrounding City Hall, demanding a recall of Sun.

"Ever since he was elected it's just been a mess in the city," said recall supporter DuWayne. "It's now gotten to the point he's firing all of the police, half of the police officers," .

Sgt. Michael Bos is one of the four officers who arrested Sun last week when he tried to get into the city clerk's locked office, which the city attorney ordered sealed to prevent files from being tampered with.

The mayor reacted by firing the officers, but the police union says there's a civil service process that needs to be followed. One aspect of that process is a hearing, but Sun wouldn't allow the teamsters representative to speak on behalf of the officers.

"As I said, you cannot do that. This is between you and I," Sun said before adjourning the Friday hearing.

The teamsters say the firings are illegal and the officers will stay on the job, even if it's not certain they'll be paid.

"I'm going to continue to do my job and do my best to keep this community as safe as possible," said officer Josh Hong.

For his part, Sun said he has all the authority he needs to fire the officers.

"According the Washington revised code I do," Sun said. "Absolutely supreme power."
