SUV driver under investigation in Hwy. 101 double-fatal
Two people died in Mason County, Sat. May, 4, 2013 after the motorcycle they were on collided with an SUV on Hwy 101. (Wash. State Patrol).
MASON COUNTY, Wash. -- A 48-year-old man from Graham and a 50-year-old woman from Spanaway were killed Saturday on Hwy 101 when the driver of an SUV crossed into their lane struck and their motorcycle, according to a preliminary State Patrol investigation.

Their names have not been released pending notification of their families.

The crash occurred after noon on Hwy 101, north of Hama Hama Road, 27 miles north of Shelton, according to the State Patrol.

A 64-year-old man driving south in a Nissan Murano crossed the center line and collided with the Harley Davidson motorcycle which was northbound, according to the State Patrol. Both riders were ejected from the bike and died at the scene.

The driver of the SUV is under investigation, according to the State Patrol. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor. The man had minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

Traffic was detoured around the scene earlier.
