Federal Way neighborhood hit with rash of burglaries
FEDERAL WAY, Wash -- Twenty four days. Eight burglaries. One neighborhood fighting back.
The Marine Hills subdivision in Federal Way has become a target for crooks in January. Thursday afternoon, a man was caught on camera taking multiple packages right off a front porch.
"Yeah, it makes you feel very uneasy that these people are out there," said one of the victims.
He and his wife posted the video online, hoping to get more attention.
But Tamara Abraham already has her guard up. She saw the theft happen and then chased after the man as he sped away in a car.
"It's just your first reaction that you want to help out and you want to make sure that someone isn't stealing from your neighbor," Abraham said.
Federal Way police say a school in the area had an attempted theft as well. Marine Hills is a wealthy neighborhood overlooking a bay, but crime has been a problem all month.
Victims want to increase police patrols and plan to beef up their own security at home.
"If anybody's going to come into this neighborhood, we're going to catch them and do our best to warn off the criminals moving forward."
Police recently arrested three men who were found in the neighborhood in a stolen vehicle, but the that didn't stop the thefts.

Just wait. Thousands of new CPL's being issued weekly. Wonder why.
when did Marine Hills become a wealthy neighborhood? It is a bit ironic for a community that overlooks poverty bay
Federal Way is dump
Hey I went to school at nautilus the "school" in the area when it was first opened, federal way used to be a nice place to live, and that area was and is full of houses that are obscene, it's a wonder the crooks didn't figure out that is an upscale neighborhood years ago, federal way has the projects still, (lake grove) and has the median area's (twin lakes)  but,,  it also has lakota, redondo, (i dont care if des moines claimed it)  and marine hills  whats more the odds of it being from outside neighborhood are slim to none, you have to know that area to get around it,, three ways in,,   three ways out period,  and a lot of neighborhood streets to cover.  i grew up there.....
 @sdbuxs Um I have a buddy whom I go see in Federal Way and I don't think there are any projects or ghettos in Federal Way. A lot of diversity but not really an area with a project full of impoverished minorities.
@sdbuxs I grew up there too. In Twin Lakes...37 years in the same house. FW is not a dump....
There are wealthy neighborhoods in Federal Way?Â
 @lakeview I assume you are from Rat City.
The scary part of the story that wasn't covered was the burglars entering a home that was occupied at the time. Marine Hills is not a wealthy neighborhood compared to Bellevue and Seattle. There are homes at every price point and we are all hard working people that don't tolerate crime. It doesn't matter where you live, everyone has a right to feel safe in their home. The video was posted to help identify someone who is involved in all sorts of criminal activity in the area and needs to be behind bars. Unfortunately our judicial system doesn't have the funds to lock these guys up. Meanwhile they steal from innocent people and pawn our goods so they can buy more drugs to get their daily fix of meth, heroin, crack, etc..
@blockwatch2013  Did you talk to the burglers?  They must have told you they steal just for drug money. It's not always for that....are you new here or something?Â
 @blockwatch2013 "we are all hard working people that don't tolerate crime" Who does tolerate crime? What a silly statement.
Sorry you feel this way, but your comments lead me to believe you are part of the problem. A lot of people tolerate crime. They do it by turning a blind eye to what is going on around them. The tolderate crime by being afraid to call 911 to report a suspicious person or car on their street. They also don't take the time to get to know their neighbors and choose to sit on their butts and complain about what is happening around them. There are several neighborhoods including Twin Lakes ( one of the largest neighborhoods ) in Federal Way that have partnered with local police to bring the community together. Good neighbors are the best weapon against property crime!
Can we PLEASE have all the money back that was taken from the Cities, Counties, and States, to pay for the billionaire tax cuts during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars?? Â The republicans has NO business cutting those taxes on corporations and billionaires while we fought two wars. Â the result was that WE the people got shafted. Â Our tax money went to hiring and training thousands of police in Iraq, building them state of the art stations, while our towns saw major cuts to policing, community policing, and the judicial system. Â Inmates are being turned out onto the street in record time because our money is in the pockets of the Koch Brothers, and others like the Walmart Heirs. Â Â
Â
We shouldn't be forced to hire security guards for our homes, or even own a weapon. That's what our taxes are supposed to be paying for. Instead our money was siphoned off to a few hundred people that have the majority of wealth in America. Â Did you know that the Walmart Heirs (only a handful of people,) have more wealth than the lowest 30% of Americans COMBINED??? Â And yeah, they got their taxes cut... Â while we saw our police, diversion programs, jails, job training, rehab funds, slashed. Â You want to fix this? Follow the money. Â
 @DT Socialism????
We stopped having any packages dropped at the front door -- those days are over.
Smithers! Release the hounds!
"Marine Hills is a wealthy neighborhood overlooking a bay, but crime has been a problem all month." That's because crime doesn't happen in wealthy neighborhoods, right?
Â
I thought the guy was in a room until I realized he was in an entryway with stamped concrete flooring, cathedral ceilings and--is that a custom welcome rug? That's a "really" wealthy neighborhood.
 @chandler Jealous much?
 @chandler For most it was called hard work......
 @chandler Compared to the rest of the dump that is federal way it's down right palatial.
 @KittySmasher  @chandler So what are you doing to make FW a better place???.. NOTHING.
Â
You probably live in the real dump called Fife. If you live in FW and sit on your hands you are part of the problem.
 @nwlib Sorry bro Gig Harbor waterfront. Not even close.
@KittySmasher @chandler Actually, Federal Way has more than a few very nice, upscale neighborhoods. It isn't all bad there.... compared to some other places.
