BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. -- Nobody was injured Tuesday evening when a fire ripped through a Bainbridge Island home.

The 2,500 square-foot home is vacant and currently undergoing a major remodel, according to Bainbridge Island Fire Chief Hank Teran.

Teran said fire crews were called to the Wing Point Drive home at roughly 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found the home engulfed in fire and heavy smoke.

Crews were able to put the fire down, but the home was severely damaged. Firefighters stayed at the scene well into Tuesday night to monitor several hotspots.

There's no word on what caused the fire, but Teran said construction crews were working on the house earlier on Tuesday.

There were no injuries.
