Flasher runs away after Longview woman pulls out gun
LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) - A man who exposing himself took off running after a Longview woman pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.
The Daily News reports that around 8 p.m. on Wednesday the woman was at Lake Sacajawea when a man approached her aggressively while masturbating and suggested she should watch him.
Instead the woman furnished her gun.
Longview police detective Kyle Sahim says officers haven't found the man Thursday evening but are investigating several suspects.
The man involved in the Lake Sacajawea incident was described as a white male in his early 20s with short dark-blond hair. The victim called police later in the evening, saying she was looking at an online database of local sex offenders and believed she recognized the man she saw at the lake.

Way to go girlfriend.
Hey CenterFire, he's a perfect example of when drawing a firearm is enough to stop a potential threat and the person didn't have to fire their weapon.
I would have still fired it just so there wouldn't be another victim of the same or worse crime.
Hell yeah! Good for you!
I would have shot his wingwanger off and told the cops he was trying to rape me.....
"Instead the woman furnished her gun."
Yet another spell-check fail for the KOMO writers.
@Glassman The guy is lucky she didn't pull out her Ottoman then......
Maybe she peruses local sex offender sites and then saw him at the lake and made a false accusation?
Â
"...a white male in his early 20s with short dark-blond hair." or this is the man of her dreams but she cannot get one so she set one up.
You're very weird.
@david davey REALLY? Were you born such an a&&, or did you have to work at it?
@david davey yeah thats probably exactly what happened. you have a faulty brain....
@SwampThing david davey is probably a trailside wanker, himself.
@SwampThing Don't feed the trolls Swamp Thing, they get bored and go away.
He pulled his gun so she pulled hers. As someone posted earlier, hers was bigger.
Alright nice going lady and quick thinking..
I had an employee come out of the bathroom at a restaurant I managed w/ his thing hanging out. He walked around the store trying to get me to look. I fired and sent him home without mentioning I had called the police. Edmonds cops got my statement and then confronted him at home in the presence of his live-in girlfriend. Too bad I didn't have a gun.
@SoTweetie That's what happens when you manage the snack bar at a strip club.Â
What an idiotic comment or attempt at a joke. I was managing a big chain restaurant, as if any woman should have to defend the respectability of her job to justify a complaint about sexual abuse. You are a damn fool
@SoTweetie Gotcha. I still call BS, but sure...whatever you say.
While I think the letter of the law would agree that she wouldn't be justifiably in fear for her life and therefore was unjustified in drawing the gun, the spirit obviously won out here since she wasn't charged with anything. I think it's a good warning....don't go up to random women on the street and start waving you junk around. Then you'll have nothing to worry about.
@dg54321 The standards for drawing a gun in WA state say nothing about only drawing if you are in fear for your life. RCW 9.41.270 section (C) states that charges against the person displaying the firearm will not be made for:
Â
"Any person acting for the purpose of protecting himself or herself against the use of presently threatened unlawful force by another, or for the purpose of protecting another against the use of such unlawful force by a third person"
Â
I believe she was perfectly justifiable in drawing a gun. The guy, by exposing himself and acting in an aggressive manor was presenting an unlawful force.
@Scott  @dg54321 Yeah, I'd say somebody walking up to you while jerking off is enough-- especially if you are a woman.Â
Great day for pervs. Be on the look out for the female that you think is weak and you might just get your goodies shot off. This woman rocks!
Woooooo!!! this made my day :D
This woman did the right thing. Obviously she felt threatened and properly diffused the situation. I would have done the same thing. ^5 to the pistol-packin' mama!!!! This event inspires me to spend some time at the range for some "group therapy" this weekend.
Actually her CWP should be revoked. That's called brandishing a weapon. There was no threat of bodily harm there.
@Gino How do you know there was no threat of bodily harm? He approached her aggressively and if she wouldn't have pulled her gun, who knows what could have happened to her.
Â
Quit being a troll.
@Gino Please see the definition of "brandish": http://lmgtfy.com/?q=define%3Abrandish
Â
Please see the related firearm information below:

and here:

No need to speculate and throw out your *opinion*, when you can read through the laws yourself.
@Gino Read RCW 9.41.270 Section (3)(C) for exemptions. His actions easily constitute an unlawful force. She was perfectly justified in drawing her firearm.
Â
And as stated by someone else it's not a CWP, it's a CPL. Washington does not have a "brandishing" charge either. Do a little researching before you comment.
@Gino If she felt threatened than she has every right to protect herself and from everything I've read it sounds like she had every reasonable concern to feel that way.  At what point would you say she would be justified in her response?  If the guy was intent on harming her or even touching her she thwarted that attack by simply drawing her firearm.  If she waits until that happens she may not have the chance to defend herself.
@Gino When you have a nut job that does something like this which is WAY out of the norm, then yes, there was a threat. The LAW says you have the right to use lethal force if your are in FEAR of bodily harm or injury. She was not brandishing by definition.
 @StrykerÂ
Â
Somehow I would not trust your interpretation of a law.
@david davey And we should trust yours, why?
 @Gino Read 3 c. http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9.41.270
First its a CPL not a CWP in this state, second it's not brandishing a weapon, when in her scenario it's easy to deduce that as a woman, a man coming at her with his "gun" exposed may intend to do harmful things to her, she had every right to pull her weapon on him. And I highly doubt you'd find a cop or judge that would disagree with me on that.
@JFR In Washington's past, they used to issue a CWP. I had one.
Now, I have a CPL. I do not know when that changed, but the original
CWP allowed for a number of different kinds of weapons to be carried
concealed. The CPL only authorizes concealed handguns.
@JFR My bad on the acronym.
From the article I read that the "Bater" was not threatening her in any way except flapping his tallywhacker at her. It may be offensive but it is not life threatening.
Â
I just find it interesting that many of the same people who want to crucify George Zimmerman for defending himself are applauding this woman for waving a gun at some guy who was doing nothing except whipping his wire at her.
@Gino I would be wasting my time.
@david davey @Gino @JFR There's an alien circling your house david, tinfoil the windows, and stay inside QUIETLY until they go away. We'll let you know when it's safe.
 @Gino  @JFRÂ
Â
She might have looked at local sex offender sites and recognized him at the lake or even set him up after flirting with him. She might be deranged. I once had an African American woman ask me to sit on her lap and if I was sick enough to do this she would likely have said I tried to rape her maybe because her brother is in prison for sexual assault or something. They set men up like this all the time. Gang members send their women out to do this and gang members get teens to make accusations like this too.
@Bornhere Please explain your apples to lightbulbs.
Â
Â
@Gino For the first half of this reply, please see my comment above on the Tueller Drill. As for the second half, you are comparing apples to lightbulbs.
Â
@Gino Really? At what point should she have gone for her weapon? After he struck her and took her to ground? I think she did the right thing. If he didn't run, he was going to come after her.
@TheBronze  You don't know whet he was going to do from what is posted in this article.
What you are saying is that if an aggressive panhandler comes up to me, it's OK for me to pull out my pistol and point it at him/her.
@Gino Sorry Gino, if you can't put the simple pieces together for yourself, there is nothing more I can do for you.
Â
You don't know that he DIDN'T have a weapon. That, is the whole point.Go sign up for a personal defense/defensive carry class, as you desperately need to get your facts straight on the reality of the situation.
@Gino  @Bornhere Male aggressively walks up to her with his junk out jerking off, and you can't think of a reason why she might fear for her life/bodily harm? A woman?Â
@Bornhere Sorry but I didn't see anywhere in the article where he was armed with anything other than his junk.
@Gino The perv was close enough to talk with her. She did not know his intentions. I suggest you research the "Tueller Drill". Perhaps then you will understand her response.
@Gino...In WA, it's a CPL, not a CWP.
What this story doesn't mention is that her 6-year-old child was with her when this happened.
