Former JBLM soldier gets 17 years for distributing child porn

SEATTLE -- A former Army soldier and Marine was sentenced Monday to 17 years in prison for distributing child pornography.

Arron D. Burton was living at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in late 2012 when he first came to the attention of law enforcement, according to U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan.

FBI officials were tracking down online child pornography when they discovered images coming from Burton's computer. They executed a search warrant on his computers and found more than 100 images and 27 videos of child porn, Durkan said in a Wednesday news release.

Burton pleaded guilty in January and admitted to distributing a video of himself molesting a 3-year-old child, according to Durkan.

When he's released from prison, Burton will be required to register as a sex offender and will spend the rest of his life on supervised release.
