LYNDEN, Wash. -- A former Lynden police officer was arrested Friday, accused of trading child pornography images with an teen girl in Texas.

Donald Glunt, 57, was taken into custody without incident, investigators with the Washington State Patrol said. Glunt had very recently resigned his position with the Lynden Police Department.

Detectives say Lynden police officials discovered child pornography images on Glunt's city-owned cell phone while conducting an internal investigation.

Further investigation revealed Glunt had been trading images with a 16-year-old girl in Texas, troopers said. Detectives in Texas have interviewed the teen victim and additional investigation is under way on various digital media devices seized as evidence.

"It's both disappointing and saddening that this man chooses to end his career in this manner," said Lynden Police Chief Jack Foster.

Glunt has been booked into the Skagit County Jail and could face additional charges pending further analysis of the digital media devices, troopers said.

"It's a black mark on our department and our city and I would ask that you not judge everyone by what this one individual did," Foster said.
