Found cremated remains of young boy returned to owner
LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- Police say a box containing the cremated remains of a young boy discovered at a Lynnwood hotel has been safely returned to their owner.

A guest had found the box on Sunday sitting between two vending machines at the Days Inn on 196th Street SW. The guest gave the box to a hotel employee and they then called 911.

The box contained both the ashes and a photo of the preschool-age boy.

The owner of the box recognized it from news reports and contacted police. He said the box contained ashes from his son, who died several years ago, and was stolen during a recent burglary at his home.

He said he was grateful for their safe return.
