Fuel spills from barge at Port Angeles terminal

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) - The state Ecology Department says 840 gallons of heavy fuel spilled when a fuel barge overflowed as it was being filled at a terminal in Port Angeles.
The department says the spill is contained in a containment boom that was deployed during the fueling operation.
The Coast Guard and marine spill cleanup crews have responded to the spill. It was reported at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Tesoro Port Angeles Terminal where the barge owned by Harley Marine Services was being filled.

Spills happen when you have to fuel on the water, good thing they had the boom wrapped around the SWOB.
Good work, the boom was deployed as it should have been prior to filling and will likely contain all of the spill. Good to see workers following procedure.
@northwestsurfer I disagree if they would've done a good job this wouldn't of happened. :(
@Funky-Munky True, but it could have been any reason at all; mechanical failure included. I remember many times when I was in the Army, mishaps like this happened despite good planning.
