Gas prices up 25 cents in a month

BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) - The AAA auto club reports the average price of gasoline in Washington is $3.81.
That's 2 cents higher than a week ago and 25 cents higher than a month ago. It's 11 cents higher than the national average, which has dropped a nickel in a week.
Some metro prices from Monday's AAA survey:
Bellingham $3.98, Bremerton $3.86, Seattle-Bellevue-Everett $3.89, Tacoma $3.88, Olympia $3.90, Vancouver $3.83, Yakima $3.66, Tri-Cities $3.54, Spokane $3.47.

And meanwhile, what have OUR two brilliant state senator's been doing to lead the charge against this asinine manipulation in gas prices nationwide for the citizens they supposedly "serve"?

So howâs all that hope and change working out for all you voters now?
Here's Obama, Pelosi, Hillary, Reid, and other Democrats complaining about gas prices and blaming Bush, prior to the 2008 elections.

So where's their outrage now? I haven't heard a single peep from them regarding gas since Obama got in. Gas prices seemed to be such an important issue to the left when Bush was still in office...now they don't seem to care. What a bunch of filthy hypocrites.
"Â Based upon a $3.00 gallon of gasoline, the average break-down is as follows.
Gasoline Retailer $.01 cents per gallon
Oil Company $.08 cents per gallon
Refining $.29 cents per gallon
Marketing/Distribution $.32 cents per gallon
Taxes $.59 cents per gallon
Cost of crude $1.71 per gallon (delivered)
Who is gouging who?
You show me where the problem is and who is doing the endless gouging of average Americans?
Is it the oil companies at .08 cents per gallon? Or is it the government at .59 cents per gallon, for producing absolutely nothing?"
Excerpts from: Jb WilliamsÂ
On a related note, I found this (somewhat outdated) chart illustrating taxes in each state:Â http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2712850/postsÂ
Oh, come on know, rise above the political blame game you small minded political blame game people. It does not matter the president or party in power it is simply supply and demand made by artificial by the oil companies that both Democrats and Republicans alike seem intent on subsidizing with billions and billions and billions of tax dollars per year.. Democrats subsidize the high prices by stifling exploration and prevention of Keystone like pipelines which in a backdoor way allows the oil companies to write off artificial losses and pay less taxes and Republicans just cut to the chase and give them direct handouts no matter how wide open production opportunities would be. So no matter the party the oil companies have a party in the friend business . . . . . just joking.
I hope that gasoline will reach $16 per gallon so that the roads are clear and excessive gridlock motor vehicle traffic will come to an end.
@m9078jk3Â Â I've always wanted to mount up a donkey and cart to drop off the kids at school and get to work. Â It'll be the hottest trend in Portland, I can already see it now!Â
@Vertically Inclined @m9078jk3 Nah when that happens get your kids some bicycles so that they can ride to school.You will want a Organic Transit ELF.Besides when I look on the traffic alerts on the television news most of the I-5 commuters are only going 20 to 30 mph on average like today in the Seattle area.
We don't need new taxes. We need new taxpayers, people that are gainfully employed, making money and paying into the tax system. And then we need a government that has the discipline to take that additional revenue and use it to pay down the debt and never grow it again.
Marco Rubio
@Funky-Munky I'm gainfully employed, made approx 1/10 of a million dollars last year and paid near 37 thousand dollars in income tax last year. Is that not enough already?
@left-center @Funky-Munky Lefty, you need a new accountant. The guy stole over $10,000 from you last year.
@Funky-Munky So it's open season to have more sex and make babies? I cannot afford any more kids... oh that's right, you'll be paying for them too now that we have Obama Care. Hell, Ass-ington is a great state, you can lite up a doobie, but not in public, go on welfare, ride pubic transportation and live in Nicklesville.
@Funky-Munky ...WHO TOLD YOU!....  Get out now FM.. save yourself.. they're coming!
@Freespeech @Funky-Munky I am already a causality....
Oh here we go again... inflation... state needing more money from people who are driving to make up for people who are no longer driving... never going to end... best get used to it folks... I just wish they would take me to dinner first before they ask me to take it...
This is interesting...When gas prices skyrocketed in 08 under Bush everyone blamed him...now everyone blames anyone/anything EXCEPT Obama.
@Unsalvageable Oddly..... I blame us all..... :( We have become spectators of a governmental "train wreck" and have been found catatonic in response.....
Someone at Exxon must be a little short on his ex wife's Benz payment this month and needs to recoup his golf money.
How much in State , Local and Fed tax is added to the price of  Gas ? That is the true robber baron. How much is a gallon of gas without it. The big oil company make about 2>3 cents per gallon at the pump
@OLDE MacJust look at the price in Spokane and that will tell you...the refinery is closer to the Puget Sound yet prices are 40-50 cents/gal higher :/
@OLDE Mac At current prices, it looks like crude oil makes up 75% of gas prices. About 12% goes into taxes, so not the true robber baron that you suppose. Significant yes, but nothing compared with the actual cost of the raw material.
Its a scam. The barrel price has been dropping for over 2 weeks, yet retail prices continue to rise.Â
The oil companies are making record profit, while avoiding taxes.. Hello Boehner? How bout ending the entitlements for the oil companies instead of cutting social security and medicare?
@calapete You're looking at the wrong oil. The price of gasoline closely correlates with Brent oil, and not WTI which has indeed been dropping in the last month. This is due to where the oil comes in, where the refinery capacity is,and what type of oil is utilized at the various refineries. Not all oil is the same, and the WTI price doesn't track all oil prices.
Gas price in Portland, OR is 15 cents cheaper than Seattle and you get full service. Parking in downtown Portland is $1.60 an hour on a street or in a garage. Seattle and the rest of Washington is getting shafted left and right. What ever happened to Maria Cantwell's investigation on the oil refineries?
STK, the finding was that the oil companies weren't doing anything wrong... (surprise surprise)...
@STKÂ Â
That is an excellent question. Maybe announcing an investigation is like letting the subjects of the "investigation" know that they will need to pony up some $$$ under the table.
Nothing we can do about it, why whine? Stay home, go to this site and say screw it!

@TheChosen Yeah, huh!
Early estimates place the screw-up between $100-200 million dollars for the failed engineering issues for the 520 bridge. Add to that the estimated huge tolls on the new viaduct tunnel (which we didn't really need) and boom you have a state that is scrambling for more and more tax dollars. They will not stop at 2 cents per yr. The state will continue their push for higher and higher gas taxes which of course means that fewer and fewer will use these insanely expensive projects.
@jdoll88 That's the answer to everything in a failed economy.... raise everything! Our government is purposely creating as many DIRE situations as they can.... divert your attention and empty your pocket book!<sarcasm off>
Gas is better in Washington. So is meat, poultry, produce, taxes...
Up a lot, down a little - or what they call "relief"'
They've got us right where they want us - conditioned to accept that $3.00 + a gallon is the norm.
@Throbbinhood Speak for yourself, I will never be "conditioned" to accept anything above $.99 a gallon.
@fubar would not hold your breath those days are all gone...gone...gone
@Throbbinhood On with the fleecing of the public....... Bwah ha! Ha! :(
Speculators and gougers drive up the price of gasoline by 50 cents and hardly a peep. Raise it 2 cents a year to build and maintain roads and the masses scream. Fascinating.
@Hagar ...and Olympia wants to raise that gas tax higher since ... people are 'driving less now' have to milk those of us who still do drive because we are employed so they can waste money on the programs for all those people who don't work and live off the dole!
Oh and dont forget, cars get better milage now...so the state gets less money...after pushing everyone into said more-efficient cars...
Whining hypocrites..
@Hagar Don't forget state tax....
Hardly a peep??...need to get an ear-trumpet instead of your sword there Hagar.
Our kids will never be able to afford gas by the time they're old enough to drive the way they jack the price of gas up for no reason whatsoever, other than million dollar bonuses in the pockets of big oil greed!
Our Government needs to ban foreign drilling in our country because they drill "our oil" and then bend us over when they sell it back to us.  The Government needs to put a  stop to this, but they never will.
Don't you just love getting HOSED? Fuel companies, the idiot libs in the Marble Zoo on Capitol Lake and anyone else who wants a chunk of taxes (feds...you listening you greedy so and so's?_
@Woodswalker You could always walk or ride a bike. Â
@cyclops @Woodswalker Seriously? You're going to walk or bike 25+ miles to/from work each way? And no, taking Metro or any other form is also not an option.
@KOMO Viewer @cyclops Move closer to work or don't complain about gas prices.  Your choice.
@KOMO Viewer It's not for me either and forget about moving to the "city". To expensive and let's not forget dangerous.
@TheChosen @KOMO ViewerKing County Metro reported several assaults per day last year on its buses. Fun times!
@KOMO Viewer I rode the bus ... once ... the person I was forced to sit next to looked like Pig Pen from the Peanuts cartoon, and he stunk. I felt like I might catch a disease just sitting next to him. I never rode the bus again.
@cyclops @Woodswalker Why should you have to? For years it's been pushed to ride a bike, walk, it's good for you, it's good for the environment... Drive an electric car, blah, blah, blah... they tax that, they tax to build bike lanes, they tax to build sidewalks. Raise taxes to build and maintain highways (but I thought they wanted me to walk?) No matter what it's going to raise taxes, raise costs.
@swansong68 @cyclops @Woodswalker Hey it's death and taxes. The only way out is to die, but with all these anti-gun nuts running around you may not even get to use the old lead aspirin much longer.
Actually I do both...when it suits. its not possible or convenient to carry my tools by hand or on my bike. In addition on the most common route there is a stretch that is extremely dangerous, no sidewalk, bike lane or by-pass...and its along a stretch of a state highway. The only other route is several miles longer and has its hazards on another state highway. Grocery runs...toss on my backpack and get just what i need...major restocks at Winco or Costco,  I drive and make it one trip. To the corner deli for a sandwich and the Sunday paper? I walk.
