Good Samaritan struck by car while trying to help other driver
LAKE STEVENS, Wash. -- A man was seriously injured when he was struck by a car in Lake Stevens Tuesday evening.
The man had been driving west on SR-204 just after 9:30 when he stopped to help a driver who was having car trouble in the eastbound lanes.
But when the 49-year-old man darted across the street to help the driver, he was struck by an eastbound driver, police said.
The victim was flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle but his condition is not known.
Police say the driver of the car who struck the pedestrian likely won't face any charges.

"Never help anyone."

Lesson of the story - have Triple A.
@Larry Bernandez Knock it off dude, that was a pretty narrow minded comment. AAA isnt going to stop anyone from helping. I wonder how many people have driven past someone stuck on the side of I-5 and thought about pulling over to help, but changed their mind and said out loud "On second though, nah, they probably have AAA"
@Larry Bernandez I just can't help but ask: How is the disabled driver's having Triple A going to stop a passing motorist from getting out of their vehicle to try and assist? Triple A would have to be there as if by magic the moment a vehicle needed assistance.
SR 204 is pretty wide, two lanes each direction and a wide shoulder on both sides too. Makes me wonder why someone driving west, would stop to help a motorist having "car trouble" that was driving east. Were both drivers aquainted perhaps? Just doesn't make sense to me.Â
You must be thinking of a different road, 204 has only one lane heading west and the shoulder is narrow in places.
@therunner ..yes, you are correct...2 lanes going east and only one lane going west.
That must have been horrible for the disabled driver to see.
Poor guy! I hope he recovers soon.Â
First rule of helping someone is to ensure you do not end up needing help yourself. Hope this person recovers and is a little more careful in the future.
