Grandfather pistol whipped, robbed while on daily walk

SEATTLE -- A pair of robbers sent a Seattle grandfather to the hospital Friday morning after pistol whipping him while he was on his daily walk around his Brighton neighborhood, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to the police report for the incident, the victim was walking near 48th Avenue South and South Fontanelle Street around 10:30 a.m. when he was approached by two men, one of whom pulled out a gun.

The man reportedly pointed the gun at the victim then hit him across the back of the head with it.

According to the report, the men grabbed the victim's wallet out of his pocket, ripping his pants, and took the wedding ring off his finger before running away.

The victim doesn't speak English, so his grandson translated for officers. The victim's grandson said a woman witnessed the attack, and one of the men pointed the gun at her and told her to stay in her car. But, officers were unable to find her.

The victim was taken to Swedish Hospital for a half-inch cut on his head that appeared to need stitches.
