Handcuffed escapee continues to elude police

SEATTLE -- The 31-year-old SeaTac man who managed to escape police custody while wearing handcuffs last month was spotted Tuesday morning in White Center.
On Feb. 25, Alan Polevia was handcuffed and being transported from Harborview Medical Center to King County Jail when he somehow slipped away from King County sheriff's deputies and ran away.
He was last seen entering a parking garage near the hospital, but Seattle police, deputies and Harborview security were unable to track him down.
Despite being handcuffed, Polevia was somehow able avoid police and remain hidden for more than a week. That changed late Tuesday morning when he was spotted near 26th Avenue SW and SW 106th Street in White Center.
Deputies searched the area but did not find the man, who's wanted on two theft warrants.
Sgt. Cindi West with the King County sheriff's office said it was unclear if Polvia was still handcuffed on Tuesday.
Police say he stands 5'8" tall and weighs roughly 170 pounds. Anyone with information about Polvia's whereabouts is asked to call 911.

That guy was able to escape? The Cops must have been in some donut shop for an hour for him to get away.
He's the newest spokemodel for Proactive and 5-Hour energy drink!
THIS GUY!!! He is a dumbass, he should not be that hard to find!
This guy looks like a total train wreck and yet he's able to escape from Seattle's crack police force, Keystone cops look like FBI agents when compared to SPD...
model citizen here.. next time use the K9 unit... | of course if this POS was executed for his initial crimes he was convicted of he would not have been around to escape!
target practice
Yeah...I'm gonna print this one out and take it to the range this weekend. :o}
When he is caught, will he be charged with theft of the hand cuffs?
What is going on with Western WA cops?!  The entire Seattle police force failed a DOJ review and is now operating under a consent decree.  A brave and ever so disciplined sheriff deputy slammed an innocent man's head into a concrete wall leaving him permanently disabled, costing we taxpayers a $13 million settlement.   Incident after incident of recorded police brutality.  And now they can't even contain a handcuffed prisoner.  If all of this crap and corruption were in a movie, it could only be a comedy because no one in their right mind would believe that this much incompetence could exist in one county.
@oldkentguy I am not in favor, in any way shape or form, or police brutality...but do you honestly think things are getting worse? Or do you think that maybe with every man, woman and child having a recording device in their pocket is making it more visible? What I see happening is a cause and effect. I am quite certain there has always been the "aggressive cop" on each and every force and were always able to get away with it...now with everybody watching and media paying for coverage these "bad cops" are getting uncovered. The media in all it's glory will blast in front of our eyes all the negative incidents and make the cops look corrupt, because it creates emotion.Â
Now we have a large percent of the population saying our LEOs are too forceful, untrustworthy, and corrupt...the criminals knows this too and are more than willing to push the envelope to see where the breaking point is. Then there is you who is making a comment that are cops are too rough, but somehow should have been more forceful with this guy...make up your mind, impossible to have it both ways!

Cops need to learn to do their jobs. How does someone just slip away while in handcuffs? The Deputies  should have their hands on the his cuffs  or his arm at all times.  Nice job KC Sheriff Deputies.Â
Lonesome loser.
The poster child for meth users.
Take a good look kids.
Is he still wearing the handcuffs?
Handsome Harry, is that you? Looks like he must be on his way to Sunday morning church services!
This mug shot looks like he had a REALLY bad day!
Prop up a box with a stick. Put some copper wire under it. Wait.
Why would anyone in their right mind call 911 after the beat down king county sheriff deputies gave that boy? Look at him.
@BuddyHolly  It's massively ignorant comments like yours that perpetuates this idea that all cops are evil, abusive thugs. Where do you see ANY evidence of a "beat down" on this turd? FYI, those are meth sores, not bruises or injuries from a "beat down". Get your facts straight before you make comments like that, or troll somewher else...
@BuddyHolly Yeah, it has nothing to do with the drugs.... Why don't you invite this poor, misunderstood victim into your home and save him from the evil police?  Let's see how long that living arrangement lasts before you are the one calling 911...Â
@Datsuyama why are you suggesting I get involved? I don't have a dog in the fight
@BuddyHolly @Datsuyama Yes, I am suggesting that.  You seem to think the police are evil and this man needs protecting from them.  I say put your money where your mouth is (or keyboard) and protect this poor innocent victim of circumstance.Â
You say in a post above you don't know any officers and the only thing you know about officers in general are the bad things you read in the news. Â Maybe you should put forth a modicum of effort and get to know a few - walk a mile in there shoes as it were. Â You can sign up and go on ride alongs, that is, if you're not a felon.... maybe it will change your perspective just a little bit.
Are there bad officers out there? Â You bet there are. Â Just as there are great officers out there and the vast majority of them fall somewhere in the middle as good officers. Â Good, decent people who do a tough job. For you to clump them all into this group of bad people like you do is nothing short of complete prejudice against a class of people, no different that doing the same against a race of people. Â You judge them all because of their profession, the uniform they wear and that piece of tin they pin on their chests. Â And that, simply isn't just.Â
HA! The way BuddyHolly talks, she should be on a "do not respond" list for the cops. She doesn't like the police, never says one word of support for the police, they shouldn't help her when she calls. Or better yet, respond in the manner which they do most of the time and do a 180 on her attitudeÂ
@jlynnhood so true i don't know any police, and don't recall ever talking to any of them. All the same, i don't like them either. Sorry, I don't know why other that the abuse i see in the news.
@BuddyHolly Or could it be....faces of meth?
@Citizen#3457899654Â That dude is OBVIOUSLY high.
Time to change from handcuffs to shackles.
@Zoso or 9mm...
The faces of Meth!
Yeah, after a week he's running around still handcuffed.
@komonews if I didn't do my job for a week I'd get fired. This is pathetic typical police work! So fat so lazy get out of your cars fatties
@Willko1000Â I wouldn't be a cop for anything, but tell you what.. You do it Wilko... Go be the perfect cop!
