Handcuffed escapee continues to elude police
Alan Polevia
SEATTLE -- The 31-year-old SeaTac man who managed to escape police custody while wearing handcuffs last month was spotted Tuesday morning in White Center.

On Feb. 25, Alan Polevia was handcuffed and being transported from Harborview Medical Center to King County Jail when he somehow slipped away from King County sheriff's deputies and ran away.

He was last seen entering a parking garage near the hospital, but Seattle police, deputies and Harborview security were unable to track him down.

Despite being handcuffed, Polevia was somehow able avoid police and remain hidden for more than a week. That changed late Tuesday morning when he was spotted near 26th Avenue SW and SW 106th Street in White Center.

Deputies searched the area but did not find the man, who's wanted on two theft warrants.

Sgt. Cindi West with the King County sheriff's office said it was unclear if Polvia was still handcuffed on Tuesday.

Police say he stands 5'8" tall and weighs roughly 170 pounds. Anyone with information about Polvia's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
