Handcuffed man escapes custody, remains on the loose

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Police say a handcuffed man on his way to jail escaped custody Monday afternoon and is still on the loose.

King County sheriff's deputies had already handcuffed the 31-year-old SeaTac man and were getting ready to transport him from Harborivew Medical Center to King County Jail when he took off running just after 1:30 p.m.

The man, who police have not named, is wanted on two theft warrants. After running away, the man was last seen entering a parking garage near the hospital, according to police.

Deputies, Seattle police and Harborview security searched that garage, but the man was nowhere to be found.

He is described as a Samoan man who stands 5'8" tall and weighs 170 pounds.

If you see a man matching that description who also happens to be wearing handcuffs, police ask that you call 911.
