Heroin, meth found in Lakewood murder victim's home

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- Lakewood police say an unsolved November murder led them to a large stash of heroin and meth inside the shooting victim's apartment.
Officers originally responded to the Lakewood home of Jamie Diaz after getting a call of "shots fired" on the evening of November 12. When they arrived on scene, police found Diaz, 32, dead of a gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators suspected the murder was drug related, and later received a tip that Diaz and his 33-year old roommate had hidden a large amount of drugs somewhere inside the apartment. With help from the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force and the Tacoma DEA office, police recently got a warrant to search the apartment.
That warrant paid off when officers found roughly 32 pounds of heroin and 4 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside the walls of the unit. Police say the drugs were hidden behind a heater in two different walls.
Based on the purity level of the drugs, police say the stash has a street value of approximately $500,000.
Detectives are now talking to federal and state prosecutors about charging Diaz's roommate.
As for the murder, police have yet to make any arrests and are asking for the public's help to solve the crime.

Whoever committed this murder is probably now going "why did I not look behind the heaters?"
One more POS off the streets, lots more to go.
OK, shoot the roommate too. I hate drug dealers.
You can bet that a couple of those units are contaminated properties.
Not to hard to figure the drugs had something to do with his death.
