TACOMA, Wash. -- A high school security officer accused of having sex with two teenage students was in court Monday to answer to four counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Charging papers say Stadium High School employee Donte Lipscomb, 31, starting having sex with a 16-year-old student in mid 2010. He's also accused of instigating a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student just before the holiday break last December.

Prosecutors say Lipscomb would call the girls out of class and have them report to the school's security office -- sometimes twice a week -- to have sex with them.

The two alleged victims came forward when one found out about the other.

Many Stadium students said they were shocked to learn about the accusations made against Lipscomb, who is also a boys basketball coach at the school.

Tacoma Public Schools officials are also reacting to the charges.

"Our campus security officers are people we put in those positions to keep students safe," said the district's Dan Voelpel. "Student safety is our top priority, so any time there is an alleged violation of that safety, it's definitely a concern for the district."

The district put Lipscomb on paid administrative leave when the allegations first surfaced.

"These are individuals who are put into positions where we have a lot of trust in them to keep our children safe and certainly whenever there's anything that comes up where there's a question as to whether that trust has been broken, it's certainly something the district is concerned about," said Shannon McMinimee, an attorney for the school district.

Lipscomb, who's being held on $50,000 bail, remains on paid administrative leave. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
