High-speed police chase ends in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Wash. -- A Monroe man is in a whole lot of trouble after leading police on a crazy Tuesday car chase through north Snohomish County.
KOMO viewer Bill Gillam caught part of the chase on camera. The video shows the 23-year-old Monroe man doing a 360 on the road and then continuing on at high speeds.
After leading police up and down city streets and taking them onto I-5, the chase ended after the driver crashed into a guardrail on the Smokey Point Overpass in Arlington.
The excitement didn't end there. After the crash, the man hopped out of his car and ran across the freeway to a shopping center.
Ericia Burnell stopped dead in her tracks when she saw a man running directly toward her.
"I didn't know if he had a gun or what. I was scared because my kids were right there with me," she said. "I knew if he was running from the cops he was liable to do anything."
Several patrol cars converged behind the Smokey Point Motor Inn, where witnesses say the suspect finally gave up.
"He just said, 'I'm done, I'm done. You got me,' and he fell to the ground," said witness Tristan Salter.
Investigators say the man rammed two of their patrol cars when they had him boxed in. Both officers suffered minor injuries. Police say it could have gone much worse, considering speeds reached 100 miles per hour during the chase.

When did they widen the Smokey Point Overpass?
Snohomish County is far more interesting than King County.Â
 @MajorSkeptic We have the meth to thank for that one.Â
Good thing the chase didn't end in Seattle, those cops would have beat him to a pulp, after they handcuffed him of course.Â
 @Asa If the cops want to beat tweakers to a pulp that endanger the public like this then that's fine with me.
Ahhhh, it's morning time. Waking up with a good cup of coffee and my Italian Sweet Cream. Flick on the ole laptop, off to Komo for the latest and greatest from the PNW. Now I'm laughing, thinking I composed myself I read this story. Now @Harley-H.S.C. and @NWCoin  you two owe me a new laptop as I spit my coffee out all over. Your comments are priceless and really spot on. Thank you, now off to work in Monroe. LOL
This is exactly why we need to regulate gas tanks in all cars to about five gallons. I mean who really NEEDS that much gas in a car anyhow? We'd all be much safer if we made those darned cars to where they can't go as fast!
Was the chase worth it?
""I didn't know if he had a gun or what. I was scared because my kids were right there with me," she said. "I knew if he was running from the cops he was liable to do anything.""
Â
This is why YOU should carry a gun lady!
@NWCoin I'd be MORE worried if someone was running at me with a knife in their hand! She should have been wondering if he had ANY kind of weapon, not just a gun.
Driving that fast with that kind of a car, nuts
One of my youtube subscriber happened to capture that chase on his on-board vehicle dash cam as it went by him. Pretty crazy chase and good thing no one was seriously injured or killed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzxjjSQ1KhE
 @akim_92 OMG A nut with a scanner in a retired crown vic chasing police calls
 @Harrison  @akim_92 Judgmental much?
 @Harley-H.S.C. yes
***Missing Nugget Alert***
And the reason the chase ensued in the first place?
 @Throbbinhood The video says, "It all started when the police stopped him in a stolen car this morning in Arlington." They left it out of the writeup though. I rarely watch the videos and actually happened to this time. All for an early '90's Honda; go figure.
 @Throbbinhood Perhaps he thought there was a warrant out for his arrest.
What a nut. Glad nobody was seriously hurt by this idiot and they have him in custody. I hope the injured officers recover quickly and he stays locked up for quite a long time.
