Injured hiker rescued after Snohomish County fall

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman says rescue teams found and rescued a 28-year-old male hiker injured when he fell about 50 feet in steep terrain about a quarter mile from the summit of Mount Pugh.

Spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Wednesday night that a rescue helicopter initially had to abort a planned hoist operation due to weather.

The weather eventually cleared up enough for the chopper to make it in and bring the injured hiker out.

The man is reported to be conscious. His name was not released. He was taken to Providence Medical Center for treatment.

The area is east of the Mountain Loop Highway.
