I-5 police pursuit ends with crash in Snohomish County
LYNNWOOD, Wash. - A 23-year-old Seattle woman was arrested Thursday night after leading deputies on a chase up Interstate 5 then crashing her car, officials said.
The incident began at about 9:30 p.m. when a sheriff’s deputy witnessed the woman make a drug sale in the 14800 block of Highway 99 in Lynnwood, said Shari L. Ireton of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
As the deputy approached the woman, she fled in her vehicle. The deputy then jumped back into the patrol car and pursued her to the freeway, then up I-5.
As the woman pulled off the freeway at the 128th Street exit, she crashed into another vehicle on the I-5 northbound freeway off ramp, causing significant damage to both vehicles and minor injuries.
Deputies detained the woman and learned she had several warrants, including a felony no-bail warrant. She was arrested and booked into Snohomish County Jail.

Nice job, and now... where's her mugshot and what's her name?
@TheTruncheon https://www.facebook.com/#!/jessica.valdes.1048?fref=ts  No mugshot here, but dont worry, im sure the picture will look about the same as seen here...
@ajohnsoccer21 I'm constantly amazed that "the authorities" seem to not wish to better inform "the public" about those that are arrested... those locked up, fed, given a "free" attorney, etc etc... who OUR tax-dollars are footing ALL the bills for. Nice job.
@TheTruncheon Jessica Valdes
Great job officer!!!...another zombie put away for a while...let's keep this trend going.
Holy smokes! We live near 99 and 148th in Lynnwood, so my husband and I must've seen the beginning of this! We were headed to the Fred Meyers on 164th right at the exact same time listed above when we saw a cop car zooming by toward 164th and then the freeway...as we turned from 36th onto 164th, we saw 4 or 5 other cop cars turning onto the northbound freeway entrance...wow! We saw the beginning of this last night! Glad she was caught without hurting other people!
Oops, were there really other people involved? I wrote too soon, didn't I?
yep... Just happy she didn't seriously injur someone..
@NorthwestEconomist  @Mr. H You think so "picked her up later at home" I am sorry for you but your thinking is wrong, these type is not the ones that you just pick up later... this is the type that kills other first...
@Mr. H so you're happy that someone else's car was damaged and that two people were only "minorly" injured?
Â
In other areas police are often ordered NOT to pursue people if they suspect drugs are involved since the people are more likely to go crazy in the car and kill someone if they feel pursued. He probably had her license number and could have calmly walked away and then picked her up later at home, sparing those two people the injuries they got.
Â
Makes me wonder why Komo left out the part about the other vehicle and people injured. Guess it's not popular to point out that the drug war can hurt just as many people as drugs themselves. I wonder how many of this woman's prior arrests and outstanding warrants were drug-war related....
@NorthwestEconomist Wanted for burglary and possessing a stolen firearm and couple different drug chargers also for intent to deliver. If you wanna see her long history. go to washington state court records and under name search look up Jessica Valdes, middle name not needed as there is one person and that it is her which includes last nights incident.
@ajohnsoccer21  @NorthwestEconomist Wow, sounds like they knew a lot about her and could have easily picked her up later at home with no one injured and no property destroyed. And all with just a license plate number!
@NorthwestEconomist Always possible, I cant say for sure in this case, but many times, these people with felony warrants arent always at the address listed on the license plate or if she is in someone elses car. Good news though that there were not any serious injuries to the officers or innocent people.
Actually there was one other vehicle involved in the crash with a male and female passenger. Both with just minor injuries. And the winner who can sit in prison for a long time is Jessica Valdes.... Great work officers involved! Â
Thanks for picking up the trash for us.
Amazing how much trash is on our streets. Would love to see our state get much tougher on criminals, career criminals, those guilty of DUI/manslaughter, and murders. In this one instance, perhaps we could learn something from the State of Texas.Â
Good job officer.
