'I had a gut feeling something was wrong, and I listened to it'
BURIEN, Wash. - The man suspected of trying to kidnap a young Burien grocery store clerk is in jail Saturday after a judge ordered him held on $300,000 bond.
And his alleged victim is speaking out about her ordeal and the stranger who helped her escape.
"I had a gut feeling something was wrong, and I listened to it," says the young woman, Tasha, who only wanted her first name used.
That gut feeling may have saved Tasha's life.
The thought of what could have happened is a painful one for her mother, Tonya.
"That's a pretty scary thought - to be told your daughter was almost kidnapped," she says.
The 21-year-old Albertson's grocery clerk told police she was gathering carts in the store's parking lot Friday night when a man came up to talk. Then - he got physical.
"He was pulling my arm, a couple different times, and telling me I need to get into his van," Tasha says.
Police say the man who grabbed her is 43-year-old Malcholm Love. In a Saturday court hearing, a judge ordered him jailed on suspicion of attempted kidnapping.
Officers arrested Love after he allegedly followed the victim into the store.
"I'm still in shock - it's still like a dream to me," says Tasha.
Her family wants to thank the officers who made the arrest - and express gratitude to an unidentified woman in the parking lot who yelled at the suspect - distracting him enough so Tasha could get away.
"And thank her very much - cause it could have turned out a whole lot different."

So often, women don't listen to their intuition because they fear they will offend someone. So glad this woman did.
the idiotic way that reporter tells the story is the reason I don't watch the news shows anymore. That was ridiculous with all the hyped drama and voice fluctuation. The story is dramatic enough on it's own, just tell it without all the nonsense added to it.
Glad to see an American helping an American instead expecting someone else to do it {.i.e. security who can not be everywhere.}
why do stores always send young women out into the parking lot at night to gather carts? Aren't there any guys around? Why don't they send two people?
Â
Â
People wanted equal opportunity - in fact, they demanded it!
Â
With the way human resources works, deny her the opportunity to go get carts and the store gets sued for discrimination.Â
Glad she evaded him. AND an arrest. Hot dog! Nail that creep!Â
Â
Scary for the family, but I had to chuckle.. had he tried that crap with my wife, he would have found her "lil' buddy" in his face so fast he would not have had time to think about why he needs new underwear..
Â
BUt it's hard to pack at work. Company rules, safety issues, et al. Point of inquiry though, where was there crack security team in all this? How did they respond? DID they respond?
Listen to your gut........(mine is saying "burrito")
A "gut feeling" would be seeing a strange car in the parking lot with the parking lights on and someone sitting in it in the dark. Someone walking up to you trying to pull your arm and force you into their car is not a gut feeling. Thats pretty obvious.

@quinoline I'm sorry baby, 6 is my limit on Schnickengruben....
Good job by the cops to catch the freak and by her to fight off the idiot perverted freak
Those gut instincts are very seldom wrong. I'm glad she paid attention.
@comdown Random black guy asking you to get in a van does not a gut feeling make.
Â
though I'm sure his arguments were quite compelling.
