'I was very eager to be reunited with my snake'

VANCOUVER, Wash. – You might think it would be hard to misplace a pet python that’s four feet long.
But that’s what a Vancouver family did when they moved out of their old apartment two months ago.
Turns out, the python named “Snake” was hiding in the apartment the whole time. He caused quite a stir when he was found on Monday.
Snake’s owner, Carrie Olin, said she left her pet behind by accident during the move and there was a mix-up with a friend over who actually had Snake.
“I thought he had taken the snake, but still looked everywhere, pulled out the fridge, couldn’t find it so I just assumed that he took the snake,” said Olin. "I was very eager to be reunited with my snake."
Olin said Snake has been a family pet for six years.
“This is a very mellow snake,” she said. “I’ve had snakes before that always want to move around and get away. This snake seems to enjoy people.”
Clark County Animal Control officer Bill Burrus says it’s legal to buy and own snakes that are less than 6 feet long. Snakes longer than that require special exotic animal licenses.
Burrus went into the apartment to evict Snake on Tuesday. He finally found him hiding behind the baseboard below the sink.
Olin’s 2-year-old son Dejon was so happy to see his family’s pet again that he gave Snake a kiss.
“He’s probably hungry. He hasn’t eaten in like two months,” Olin said.
Let me say right up front, I HATE SNAKES. Â
Â
This woman is insane, having a 4' snake in the house and NOT contained is also irresponsible. Â She has a two year old child that could be injured by the snake. Â I also would like to see CPS investigate, my opinion of course. Â
 @Circe That snake isn't big enough to constrict around that child to harm him. Stop blowing things out of proportion because you "hate" snakes. Educate yourself even if you never have the desire to own a reptile before sounding daft. Snakes can break free just like dogs can break leash or find a way out of the backyard; again you are assuming that she let the snake run wild around the house thus proving you have 0 reading comprehension.Â
That's what my wife said when I got home from my business trip.
I like snakes well enough, but I sure wouldn't be kissing one - they can carry salmonella. Â Glad Snake is back with his owners so he can be cared for.
 @Doxie You can find salmonella in household pets such as dogs and cats; not just on the skin of snakes. You just need to learn to wash your hands after touching them.Â
 @PrairieDawn Yes, but the little boy is kissing it and I doubt he washed his lips afterward!
That's just a little snake, very cute. I wonder who contacted Animal Control to come fetch it, the new tenant? Surprise! You have a roommate.
geee, what a great pet idea with a small child in the house. Who watchs Mr. Snakey when mom is at work pole dancing?
 @Harrison I saw no mention of her job in this report. Perhaps you're making a judgmental assumption about this young woman based upon her appearance - unless you have purchased a lap dance from her.
I have to agree with you that a pet like this needs to be secured and supervised when one has children or small pets of the warm blooded variety, but having met a few of them, Ball Pythons are really mellow and do seem to enjoy just curling up with you to stay warm.
@two loons
No, I donât do lap dances. Carrie Olinâs Facebook page states she is a Hooters girl at Hooters of Jantzen Beach OR and a Shot Girl / Go Go Dancer at Society Lounge.  I suspect the snake was originally abandoned at the old apartment and not lost as implied.  Another online posting by Miss Olin last night is now seeking an animal lover âwho wants to adopt a loving, cuddly, sweet news famous 4ft long ball pythonâ.

Well... who wouldn't be?
@Sid Vishess I have a snake, but it isnt 4 feet long. That would be kind of tough to manage.
Ball Python. Very docile snake. you can get them at any major pet store. Glad the little boy got his awesome pet back!
The last picture in the photos had me wondering, do you think they ask the reporter about her snake handling skills when they interviewed her for the job? Â ;-)
Ridiculous.
 @jenshens How so?
