Idaho man charged after pot found in plane in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - An Idaho man has been charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana after about 180 pounds of pot was found in his airplane in Utah in November.

Randall Watson of Meridian, Idaho, was charged Feb. 3 in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City.

Search warrant documents obtained Friday by the Deseret News show U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents tipped off Uintah County authorities about a "suspicious aircraft" that was expected to land Nov. 12 at Vernal Regional Airport.

The 56-year-old Watson was arrested after marijuana was found in four duffel bags stowed inside his Cessna 182E Skylane.

According to federal prosecutors, he had been flying marijuana around the country for at least four years before his arrest.
