Inmate attack prompts lockdown at Washington prison

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Parts of the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla were put on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after inmates attacked three correctional officers.
The attack happened at roughly 1:15 p.m. in a common area in the prison's West Complex, which consists of four separate units. According to the Department of Corrections, a number of inmates attacked three officers before being restrained by other staff members.
The officers were taken to a local hospital for treatment, but the severity of their injuries is unknown.
All four units in complex were immediately put on lockdown and will remain that way while staff and local police investigate the incident.
The entire prison houses about 2,200 offenders in minimum-, medium-, close- and maximum-custody units. The West Complex, which houses about 800 offenders, is a close-custody unit, according to the Department of Corrections.
None of the inmates involved in the attack were injured.

"None of the inmates involved in the attack were injured."
There is the problem right there. Guards need medical aid, convicts are unhurt.
Were these officers targeted or were the inmates on a rampage? Once your an inmate the only respect you have is from other inmates, and if you have to take down an officer to get the most highly respect there is, that is what is done. I am not saying that this was right in anyway. This is not a job I would want. I am glad to hear no inmates were hurt, if there was we would be hearing about law suits like the Boise prison.Â
"None of the inmates involved in the attack were injured"??? Somebody at DOC isn't doing their job very well....
@boeman I double-dog DARE you to try being a DOC officer for just one day. I'll bet you would pee your pants within the first half hour.
Authorize cannabis in the prison and everyone would remain a lot calmer.
@Blindman Sadly, that would probably help.Â
@Melissa Angevine  @Blindman But the cost to feed them will go through the roof! LOL
